Weekly Chat (non-osprey), Sunday 12th October 2014

Good morning, all!  Welcome to the new day and the new week.  I hope it goes positively for you all.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Good morning, CLARE, and thanks for starting our new week.

    I'll be back later.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Morning, OG!  I'm out for the day so I'll be back much later.

  • Have a good day out, CLARE.

  • Good Morning, All, and thank you to Clare for starting us off on a new week. Sun is shining here, as promised by the weatherman. We are going out to Sunday lunch for a treat.
  • Good Morning ALL. Home from church and it is dry for a change, until the rain arrives this afternoon, so we need to tidy and clear the patio etc of wet leaves and twigs.

Thanks to Clare for starting the week. I hope your willow warbler has moved on with it's migration, before there are no insects for it to eat.

Good to read that you are ok, OG, and you enjoyed some time in your garden.

Linda, No sun here :-((  I hope your lunch out, helps you both feel more energised.

  • Hello All-  nice sunny day here.   Would like to go out with Amber but do not think  I will manage it as I have a really bad cold and chest, coughing all the time, not very pleasant.  It is the first time in ages that I have had something like this. I was hoping to do lots of tidying up in the garden too, but it will have to wait.

Hope everybody has a nice Sunday in the Autumn sunshine.

  • Rita, It is not like you to complain, so you must be feeling bad. Take care of yourself, I am sure Amber will be fine. Still no Autumn sunshine here, but we have managed to clear all patio 'debris' and some pruning and dead heading. We can't rake the grass, to clear leaves, as it is far too wet !! Just hoping that we have a few dry days, soon.

  • New Blog from Mike. Very little movement from Breagha and Millicent but both are fine.

  • Good evening, everyone. Thank you CLARE for doing the needful!

I hope that you will soon feel better RITA, Take care.

I hope that you enjoyed your lunch, LINDY. We have had a very quiet day, reading and pottering about the house. Now waiting for dinner to cook. Our favourite roast lamb with mint sauce etc.

Nothing happening next door since the painter left last Sunday. The new owner did tell OH that it was a big job. Tell me about it, I know more than most about that house!!

The next few days will be quiet and then Callum and Amy will explode upon the scene for three days as Mum is getting a well deserved break in Edinburgh, staying with a girlfriend. Ally said 'Just keep pushing food in their direction and they will be fine'. I think that she has maybe forgotten that she and her three siblings were teenagers too, once upon a time!

  • Thanks, Heather - we did indeed enjoy our lunch, which was only a carvery at a local pub, but it was delicious. I had turkey & it was beautifully moist, just as it should be. I said to the chef, who carved mine, that I enjoy turkey all year round, not just at Christmas. He replied that he never cooks turkey at home!!! Not fond of it, I think he said. They have a large gammon joint, he said. The sunshine continued for most of the day and we both rested in our conservatory after being knocked out by having a glass of wine in the middle of the day!!!!
