Hi All: I'm a bit early starting this since it's right before midnight your time. Anyway, on the last page of the previous Weekly Chat, Tiger had some interesting info about what's involved in putting forward Big Ben. I had no idea. And Cirrus posted a shot of two very noisy creatures (thankfully we can't hear them!). And Soosin is looking for Karen. Had a nice day out with daughter; won't be around tomorrow evening your time as I'm taking the train down to Burbank Airport to meet a friend for dinner who's got a stopover there for a few hours en route to her home in Sacramento. Won't be home 'til around 10:30 p.m. - 6:30 a.m. UK time.
Last day of daylight saving <hurrah>. Sunrise this morn 7.30 am - apparently that's later than it is in winter!!!! Sunset 7.08 pm. Currently we are 9½ hours ahead of UK.
TerryM, Lindybird, Djoan - I can look at spider pics (just). But snakes - ugh, they give me the shudders.
Cirrus - No, Aussie spiders are not all poisonous. There are thousands of species of spiders in Australia, but few are considered dangerous. In SA probably only the redback and white-tail.
Thanks for all the great pics of EJ and Marge. I tune in each morn and I feel as if I haven’t missed the excitement - well, not much anyway.

AQ Didn't you Aussies put the clocks forward real early for the Sydney Olympics? Here is a look at why things are not right in Aus with regard to daylight saving time. See http://web.aanet.com.au/d-e/DSTtim.htm
BTW If people have never seen Mercury then this is the week. It is real near to Venus and should be easy to find as a result. See http://www.skyandtelescope.com/observing/home/89721762.html

Thanks, Tiger - will email Elizabeth tomorrow and get on the list.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Don't know if this has already been posted (too lazy to check thru all the posts) but the Deby peregrines have four eggs and the falcon is now incubating, and the Queen visited yesterday! (to hand out Maundy Money, not to watch the peregrines!).

Yes I was aware that the Queen was at the Cathedral yesterday but sadly not to see the peregrines. The peregrines in Rome are about to start hatching any day.
Yes the season is in full swing.

Alan these are great.
Not sure you have ever read the "Hall of Fame" thread. It is a great read. See http://peregrinefalcon-bcaw.net/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=61
PS Remember Froona's first anniversary is Sunday 4th April.
Tiger - Things are certainly not right with normal time in South Australia. Our meridian actually runs east of our border with VIC/NSW. So we already have ‘daylight saving’. Those people living on Eyre Peninsula (SA’s west) have it tough with children and cows confused by what the clock says vs the sun (or lack of it!) March seems to be the month of festivals, so we have extended daylight saving to suit those going out in the evening. Business people would like SA to have Eastern Time permanently - their meridian is out in the Pacific Ocean! Personally I miss those quiet early mornings we had years ago before daylight saving was imposed.
Marge is asleep with her head tucked under her wing at LotL
I'm getting slightly worried about her mate, Eric, he's normally back by now, I'm sure. She's already had to fight for ownership of her nest and, if her mate isn't going to show this year, I hope some younger male will appear and sweep her off her feet.
AQ In China there is only one time zone where there should really be three. Western China must be a very strange place since it is on the same time as Bejing.

Eric is not a young osprey. If he were not to come back there may be a battle for succession. When Ollie did not turn up at Loch Garten in 2002 a succession of males (including Henry) courted Olive but she was not happy with any of them. Let us face it there will be a change of regieme at LOTL sooner or later. ...but hopefully not this year.
