This topic replaces Satellite Tracked Ospreys (non-LG) Aug 2012-Sep 2014
The scope - following the travels of tracked ospreys "not from Loch Garten", either originating in the UK or overseas.
Can I ask for some help in starting off the thread. If you are the first person to post about a bird in the restarted thread, can you please give the name of the project which is tracking it, and supply a link to the project website.
Many thanks - Sue
Hello all, woorrying news about Rothie :( Im sure his tracker has either fallen off and or has stopped transmitter. Im hoping Chris finds him! Your right he did find 5F. It must be very difficult spotting Darvic rings and identifying the numbers youd need very good binoculars or scope! I wish him luck! As you say hes done well so far!
Hi Willow
Chris has invested in some very expensive Swarovski equipment so we are reaping the benefit by seeing the photos of the Ospreys he is finding, is amazing to think he photographed 5F last year and here she is almost in the same spot a year later.
He thinks he has seen another Scottish bird this year, another that he spotted last year. Its very exciting waiting to hear what he sees every day!

Hi Mary Im very much looking forward to who hesees next! Fingers crossed he sees Rothie. Red 8T tracker stopped working after some time but I think Roy discovered him at his nest and I think I remember correctly! I think they have a life span of about 5 years(trackers)

You are right there. See Red 8T

The latest update on the Kielder juveniles.
Thanks jaydee for the update. I had thought they would stay put now, but after reading the last paragraph of your blog, then reading up on TO3 it would seem moving on is still a possibility. I look forward to the next instalment!

Thanks for the link to the Update Jaydee. You would think if they are still there at the end of the month then they will stay, but as we have found out before with Osprey, always expect the unexpected :-)
My thoughts exactly Willow, I said at the time when Red 8T's tracker stopped working, that I would believe that something was amiss when he didn't show up at the Rothiemurchus fish farm. :-)
I hope Chris manages to find Rothiemurchus, he will be so disappointed if he doesn't, and so will we.
It must be a bit like looking for a needle in a haystack! I believe theres a few ospreys around with malfunctioning trackers that are presumed missing! I still believe that Seasca has not ditched into the Bay of Biscay but who knows?
Jaydee thanks for the updates again, is it unusual for ospreys to over winter in Morrocco I ve never heard of it before. Its getting late in the year and i wonder if either of them will head further South? There must be plenty of fishing oppotunities and also i imagine not much competition from other ospreys! Interesting to see what happens later!
