This topic replaces Satellite Tracked Ospreys (non-LG) Aug 2012-Sep 2014
The scope - following the travels of tracked ospreys "not from Loch Garten", either originating in the UK or overseas.
Can I ask for some help in starting off the thread. If you are the first person to post about a bird in the restarted thread, can you please give the name of the project which is tracking it, and supply a link to the project website.
Many thanks - Sue
He had a holiday in the Red Sea while some of us were thinking that he had gone to osprey heaven.

He has a very interesting invitation. He wants people to help with the analysis of tracking data.
Here's a post about Kielder 7H and ships.
Very interesting. Yes, as a yachtie I can confirm that migrating birds (like this pipit) frequently hitch hike on boats, especially in fog. They can also be very tame, they seem to lose their fear, and can be picked up by hand. What’s more, you may even be able to identify the ships with the right software try http://www.MarineTraffic.com .. there’s the next challenge!

Thanks for your interest, Rob. AIS charge for historical data, and it wouldn't be cheap, so if you or anyone else wants to fund the research into the four larger vessels that would be great!
Thats probably mainly of academic interest, so I'll duck the challenge this time given that I only have a cheapskate deckhand-type account with them. But it wouldn't be THAT expensive.

Not sure about that. The examples they quote are over 100 euros minimum for either a port or ship and searching on a position doesn't figure. So that would be well over 400 euros at the least. As you say, of academic interest.
Thanks for 7H's amazing migration facts Jaydee. She certainly likes to cruise :-)
