Evening all: Happy New Week.
Good day here; only two oranges left on the tree and just can't reach them - oh well. Two large containers of fresh OJ in the fridge and another one for daughter tomorrow along with a bag of oranges for her friend. Also gave one to the young family next door - and that's it for this year! Yay!
Diane: I told my sister about the challenges of my orange tree and she said that picking oranges didn't constitute a problem in her book. :-)Geez. Please do whatever it takes to deter those yellow jackets! That's not good - you don't want to develop an allergy to their stings. Hope the new freelance project is lucrative.
Lindybird: Keep doing what you're doing re the cold. Funny - someone posted on our local community website today that they and their whole family had come down with a horrible summer cold and they got all kinds of responses saying "same at our house" so it's an international bug!
OG: More noise this morning (an electric saw - eeek!) from the property up the road and a birthday party next door this afternoon; hence final afternoon on the orange tree. Long ladder now tucked up for this year - except we'll have to tidy up the Monterey Brush Cherry in the fall. We planted a bunch of them for privacy and they're just about to start dropping dark red berries that are really good if you want to have a splotchy carpet. On the other hand, the birds like them. In the meantime, I've moved the broom down that part of the walkway so it's close at hand.
Have a good Sunday everyone. :-)
OG water there not as high as last Monday but to a southerner it was raging.
Worst flooding in Elgin. I so feel for your daughter as our weather can be so unforgiving .
It's Heather whose daughter is in Elgin; mine (with the roof problem) is in Conon Bridge.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Yes OG was replying to your daughters plight. Elgin sorted after £83 million spent.. but maybe not...
Thanks for thinking of her, WENDY. No news today, so I guess there is nothing new to share.
J was very positive about his first day at the new school - no kids, starting with two INSET days, but more training content than he ever got at the Academy. Also, it was confirmed that he doesn't do the personal care support for these kids (toileting and feeding are provided by specific staff). He arrived in good time this morning, but may go a bit earlier when the kids are in, as he needs to start early, helping get three wheelchair users in from their transport!
Evening all: Another puttery day - put the soaker hoses on the orange and tangerine trees, then the two young Chinese Pistache out on the parkways (the area between the sidewalk and the curb). Snoozed in the hammock for a whole hour, then did some garden tidy up before dinner.
Clare/Lindy: Thanks for "taxman" clue, but I fear they have more than 9 lives....
Brenda: Gosh, hope your S-in-L has some better options regarding the nerve pain. Drugs that keep you knocked out don't sound like a good way to live.
Alan: Don't know Skydancer (although did Google them); seems like a nice group to win an award.
OG: J's new position probably more appealing what with good training and additional staff to take care of some functions. I bet the parents of the children must be so thankful that J and others like him are there to help.
OK, must do some stuff on computer but maybe will also set up ironing board just in case the spirit moves me; after all, I do have a bunch of Frasier reruns saved on the DVR.
Good Morning ALL. A cloudy morning, with odd glimpses of the sun. Still very breezy. Bedding to hang out this morning, so it should dry.
OG, Sounds as if J will enjoy his new job. It does seem to be so well organised.
Annette, Good that you were able to have an hours snooze without any local noise.
Linda, You do seem to be having a rough time with your 'cold'. I hope your OH doesn't catch it. You did mention that he had started sneezing last week.
Must hang out the washing now and hope any showers don't appear.
Really great day and the weather was quite kind to us. We met our friends bang on 1000 (they had been in Aviemore since 0930 but got themselves a little lost.) We had coffee at Inverdruie then took them to Loch an Eilein where we had a great walk. They treated us to lunch at Druie and we then went to LG and saw Seasca and Druie. I saw a red squirrel but friends and OH didn't. We then headed back to Mountain cafe for tea and scones and headed north and south at 1730. Hope it isn't a year before we see them again.
Another day of sunshine and showers... Took friend back to airport yesterday via Carrbridge and Lochindorb for a scenery fix.
RSPB are doing a volunteers get together in September friend and I registered. It's in Stirling so quite a trip in one day so looked for accommodation. No chance as it's Ryder Cup at Gleneagles weekend. So sadly now unable to attend. Maybe organisers should have done some research as not everyone lives in the central belt....Grrr
