We're having a midnight feast! Well, a night-time feast.
EJ got up at 0325hr:
She began to feed herself and the chicks from last night's leftover:
Right thru DAYCAM @ 0339hr:
#3 was hidden all the way thru, but at the end contributed to an almost symmetric array of chicks:
Then EJ settled back on the chicks, giving their heads protection at least ;-)
IMAGICAT
Naturally Odin picks this moment to bring the fish remains back:
None of the chicks are responding to Daddy's presence on the nest!
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
EJ is back:
What do you think?
Shall I take it?
He has left the piece on the nest:
She has picked up the fish and it looks like another feed is about to start:
The chicks are all interested and Little One is right next to Mummy:
'Can all these whoppers possibly be mine?' wonders Odin:
He has flown.
"Naturally Odin picks this moment to bring the fish remains back:"
Of course he did Clare. He knew you were watching for His Gorgeous Magnificence to appear! LoL.
Birdies LG DU update.
I wonder if he wanted a few moments alone with his chicks? He seems to be demonstrating some paternal pride this year.
EJ has finished feeding the (stuffed) chicks and is now pottering, doing a little nestorising as she goes:
'I know it's getting hot but if I want Mummy time I will have Mummy time':
EJ has decided that's enough Mummy Time - she's now finishing the fish:
Little One admires her technique:
Ping is now being fed third helpings!
Nice to see a bit of sun on the nest, hope EJ has dried out now! Odin must be impressed with the results of his labours, those chicks are growing visibly each day.
