Happy New Week all.
I put paragraphs into the above, but they still don't come out :-(
Annette: Son is about 170 miles away so we are expecting to have to stay either with them or in accommodation in the vicinity when we visit to see the baby later this year. The journey is tiring because although its almost all on motorways, these days there is so much traffic choking the roads that you have to concentrate really hard for every single second of the journey. We are both competent and confident drivers but find we have to stop after an hour or so, swap drivers and stretch our legs. Off down the first part of the road again, on Wednesday, to see Youngest and little Tomasz, as D in L has her 20 week scan and we are babysitting for an hour!
OG love your pica and good to hear of other sightings
Hello people!
After a very enjoyable few days in Denmark we fly home tomorrow. We have been able to sail, to visit favourite places and most of all, have enjoyed the company of old and dear friends. The blackbird eggs in the nest in the woodstore have hatched during our time here but the nest is unfortunately not out of reach of neighbouring cats so a happy outcome is uncertain.
Hope everyone is OK.
Evening all: Another busy day around the house/garden, then out to pick up bird seed, food for guinea pig and bits and bobs for one thing and another.
Clare: Googled your female spotted woodpecker. Hard to miss (I guess) with that bright red bottom!
Lindybird: Ah lucky you; we don't get peonies here and when we do, they cost a bundle. I've seen them in the stores in the last couple of week - just glorious extravagant flowers. That's quite a drive and I can imagine how wearing it is with all the traffic. Too far for a day trip that's for sure. Sounds like you need a house in between the kids/grandkids.
Heather: Sounds like you packed a lot of lovely relaxing activities into those few days. Fingers crossed the blackbird eggs will all be present and accounted for when you get home.
Haven't seen Margo around for several days and still wondering how NiteOwl is doing. Hugs to all.
Good morning, all! Annette, our woody is a very striking bird - the male is even brighter as he has a red patch on his head as well as the red bottom. I haven't seen the female this morning (yet) but plenty of other birds have been about including the usual horde of starlings and a magpie who was so wary it scarpered the minute I picked up the binoculars.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Hi, all.
Peonies are the official state flower of Indiana, and they're very popular and common here.
I've just popped in because I know that the birth of the twins is imminent in Adelaide. AQ: I wish your daughter, her OH, the babies, you, and your entire family all the best!
Best wishes to Margo and everyone on this thread.
Hi, Diane - it's nice to see you. How are things going?
Good Morning, Everyone.
Margo is ok but she is having internet connection problems and will post as soon as she can. She is also waiting for her blood results from yesterday. I will ring her later today.
Thanks Brenda. How is the decorating going? Or should we not ask LOL!!
There was exciting news this morning on our BBC North West News bulletin - A pair of ospreys have been discovered nesting in Cumbria and the female appears to be incubating, as she has not left the nest for some days. If this is a new pair and a new location its wonderful news.
Here are pics of my peonies from last year, for Annette:
Frustratingly, this year I may not be able to post any new pics at all as my camera and my pc won't "talk" to each other any more when I connect them with a usb. I'm having a lot of problems now as my pc is very old by modern standards, and my Windows system is probably way out of date, too. Add to that the fact that the whole thing needs a good clean out and its a mess :-(
