WEEKLY CHAT (Non Osprey) SUNDAY JUNE 1 2014

Happy New Week all.

  • Good morning, all.  It's a really grotty day here - but on the plus side it was beautiful yesterday and our lovely great spotted woodpecker was back, with her mate!  In fact Limpy has the unexpected pleasure of watching her feed him - I didn't know woodies did this.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Morning CLARE How lovely to have "your" woodpeckers Is this the first year you have had them?

  • Good Morning, All. Dry & cloudy, here. We are up early and off to visit our son, grandson and d.i.law with her 'bump' .... not yesterday, OG!! Hope its good news from AQ soon!!

No - they started coming in 2011.  Up until this week we hadn't seen them for some time - then the female suddenly appeared on Sunday with her mate joining her yesterday.  It's unusual to see them at the same time, much less treating each other with affection publicly.

  • Hello all

We arrived home late yesterday afternoon, now for the usual washing and so on.

BRENDA Thank you for the news about MARGO's technical problems.

I haven't found DIANE's post yet, or indeed done more than have a very quick scroll through the posts of last day or two but hope to catch up with everything later today.

It is quite dull here but dry. The grass always seems to grow more quickly when we are away from home, can't understand it! OH won't be happy until we attack it.

  • Hi, Heather - it's nice to see you back.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Welcome home, HEATHER.

We had a light shower some time before breakfast; this wasn't in the forecast, so we hope it means that the heavy rain which is forecast might give us a miss!  Got to go grocery shopping in Morrison's and fetch our bedroom curtains which went for cleaning, and then be back in time for OH to drive J to a doctor appointment - it appears he has a rather bad chest infection.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Good morning all so pleased to back on line after 2 days of internet problems. My wonderful OH had a full day at work, had his dinner, went out and did some shopping and finally sorted the connection problem out in a couple of minutes. He knows how much I rely on being able to access all the webcams and forums. Didn't understand what the problem had been but apparently it was something todo with a connector.

Poor Billie's skin problem reappeared so we had to take to the vet again for a couple of injections. As we know it is a stress issue and, until my friend reminded me, was probably caused the week we had the leak and strange people were in and out over the course of the week. She is much better already and sitting in the conservatory watching the birds. No inclination to go out as it is raining. When she has these injections I always get a bit concerned as she does not drink for anything up to 24 hours. She eats but the non drinking thing always concerns me.  Late last evening  she had a small drink but she is making up for it this morning with plenty of water being drunk. Hope we will not have to have any workmen in for a while.

My blood test results revealed that the red blood cell count had gone down again. Apparently this can happen when the chemo recommences. Gone down to 86 from 94 the previous week. Still acceptable but if it goes lower than 80 a transfusion will be required so fingers crossed it stays at this level. See the consultant next Tuesday and another round of chemo the following Monday. In one way it is comforting to have the weekly blood tests but it does mean I spend quite a bit of during each week feeling rather anxious. I feel quite breathless if I try to do too much due the red cell problem and feel so frustrated at times.

Obviously I have got very behind again on the forum so just a few responses but thanks to all for your thoughts.

OG not sure if I have already said I was pleased you enjoyed your time away And thanks for  posting your osprey pics. Sorry to read that J has a chest infection, hope he will get the appropriate medication to set him on the road to a quick recovery.
