HAPPY NEW WEEK!

Everyone have a wonderful week!
Here's an extraordinary new discovery! Even if you aren't interested in the science, scroll to the bottom of the article and watch the video at the end. It's truly breathtaking. Seriously, I don't think I breathed for the entire 5 minutes. By the end, I was getting dizzy. The building is the new under-construction Shanghai Tower.http://sciencealert.com.au/news/20140805-25495.html
AQ, Just been looking at a photograph of twins, who were born in Ohio, holding hands. Lovely. ( USA Today )
TINA - I am actually "resting" from the forum right now whilst putting the garden in order and packing for a short holiday, but I wanted to tell you that you and your partner are in my thoughts at this distressing time. The way his Son was treated when he asked for help really disgusts me and I hope this will be followed through appropriately - too late for him, but it just might help those he left behind. Meanwhile, I hope that your Mother's condition will show some improvement and that she will be more comfortable.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Hi all, without a laptop at present as it has gone very slow and I think a virus has got into it. However am changing over to a pc, OH"s old one and he is getting a new one. So at present am on tablet. Just read this page and notice that Tina has been having family problems. Do hope they sort themselves out for you and enjoy your meal tonight. Also read that Margo had been on and was feeling a littlt better. Thinking of you Margo and Tina.
Went into Oxford yesterday for a river cruise, so tranquil. Took up amazon local deal.
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend, hope to be back in harness properly sometime next week.

OG I share your feelings about the lack of care from two different mental health services. In no way can I defend their actions but there are many factors which might have contributed to this sad sad outcome. There is a desperate shortage of acute psychiatric in patient beds these days, far too many agency doctors and nurses filling in and sadly, far too many people these days who say that they are suicidal when they are not. All I will say is that sometimes the wrong people get the beds and/or the outpatient care. I hope that Tina's family get answers to their questions.
HEATHER - I know what you are saying, but surely there must be some sort of triage system in place, equivalent to acute hospitals and GP surgeries, where someone should be able to identify a patient who is that close to taking his own life? If it was purely an admin decision to turn him away, then that is so very wrong.
Morning all: First day of the cool down; back to normal tomorrow. Our raccoons/possums must be having a terrible time finding water - I got up this morning to find the top half of our fountain, which is heavy, toppled over and on the ground No idea who/what got up there, but it's the second time this has happened. I think we'll just put a large shallow bowl of water down by the fountain at night so whoever it is doesn't have to work so hard to get a drink.
Clare: Thanks for that garden link. I'll be keeping an eye on Adrian's progress.
AQ: Do you have a bottle of bubbly cooling ready for the twins' arrival? Has anyone dared wonder how much help Dau will need with three? Does her OH get paternity leave? What about an au pair (not you!!)?
Tina: Doubt any of us hasn't experienced one family calamity or another. do let us know how you're doing and enjoy your Thai meal.
BrendaH: Saw that photo of the Ohio twins. Interesting.
Lynette: A day on the river in Oxford sounds wonderful; hope the laptop gets sorted easily.
Heather: Re mental health issues, seems like shortage of acute beds/care is universal. I'm surprised the folks at the psychiatric facility didn't dial 911 (or 999 there) and have the gentleman taken off to the nearest E.R. for immediate evaluation;. Our regular hospital has a psychiatric ward and folks can be held there for three days while being evaluated; then may be sent to another psychiatric facility that has an opening, even if it's out of the area. Anyway, all rather sadly academic at this point for this particular gentleman.
Off to start the day...
I agree,OG. Skill required though. I would have thought at the very least, one team could phone the other and I'm quite shocked that they apparently didn't. If not why not? I won't say any more, it's too sad and I don't want to say the wrong thing.
Hi ANNETTE! Just saw your post. Glad you are a bit cooler :-)
I'll try and get back later
Lynette, Sorry you have had computer problems. A cruise down the river in this lovely weather sounds idyllic.
Annette, Glad your weather is cooling down for you. It possibly is the possum / raccoon toppling your fountain. I know the squirrels somehow manage to unscrew one of our glazed, stone bird baths and then jump from the fence and knock the bath off it's pedestal. I expect to find it smashed one day.
Margo rang me this morning and we had a good long chat. Her appointment was at 4pm today. She never mentions her pond fish, so I thought I would tell you that her fish have had baby fish. I would be thrilled if they were mine.
I hope all went well Margo and you were able to sort out your appointments.
MARGO - have a good weekend with your OH.
