HAPPY NEW WEEK, HAPPY FULL MOON, and HAPPY SPRING EQUINOX!!!
Last week's weekly chat thread is HERE. The code for this week's thread is WC160314.
The Full Moon is today, Sunday, and is known as the "Full Worm Moon". The Spring Equinox is Thursday, 20 March, in the Northern Hemisphere. Of course, it's the Autumn Equinox for AQ in Australia. This is the day that I guessed EJ will return. :-)
I think this worldwide Osprey Range Map is fun. You can change the date to reflect the times of osprey presence in a region. You can also change from Terrain, Street, Satellite, and Hybrid views. Zoom in close to see personal osprey observations. (It doesn't zoom close enough to be a security risk to individual nests, in my experience with it.) You can also enter other bird species and see the global maps for them.
Birds of many species are reported to be on their way back to their breeding grounds here in the U.S.. The southerly winds are now in place to help them on their long, dangerous migration. This website tracks mass bird migrations using weather radar. Interesting!
Oh, and half a million sandhill cranes are headed back to Nebraska (U.S.) to fatten themselves up on the waste grain in the cornfields before they journey to their Arctic nesting grounds in one of Earth's great migrations. Here's an article about the global crane population (I thought Steve J might enjoy it).
Personally, I was very glad to see the pileated woodpecker pair on my patch this week. I was so relieved that they survived the harsh winter. The warm months wouldn't be the same without their noisy drumming. The male was drilling furiously in a tree by the creek.
Everyone have a wonderful week!
My previous link to carnyx didn't work, I had to change it to the above
Good afternoon all had a busy week last week as the weather has been dry and sunny on occasions managed to do three loads of washing wash the car and even get my grass cut as the wind has really dried thing up. Bits of the places we visit on our walks have even dried up even though they have been muddy for months.
Had to get two new tyres fitted to the car last week as the ones that were on were getting close to the limit. Last Thursday had a meeting with the nurse who is monitoring my progress on the trial of tablets for gout and of course had more blood taken next Monday go to get 24hr heart monitor fitted and then have an appointment with consultant in April.
I hope Margo and anyone else who is feeling down will get a lift soon with the return of EJ. Hope everyone keeps well.

Thanks Brenda for the info re cam, was looking at it a few minutes ago and it was still on the feeder. Won't be long now to the start of another season!
Limpy - excellent go at the Monday smiles - made me chuckle.
Do hope that you are sorted out pretty soon George and hope that you are feeling quite well.
OH has done the front lawn this morning so I am going to tackle the back lawn, hopefully Wed, after it had its first cut yesterday. Oh dear, now we have to keep it up for a while.

Mrs Manton has just arrived back with a VERY large fish. It's still flapping. I'm sure she would love to sit and eat it in the comfort of her own nest, so we can watch her. :)
Dear all
Sorry I have not posted but I am not feeling at all well. Got up,yesterday feeling extremely dizzy and had to stay in bed. Poor OH did not get to his football match, I was too nervous to stay on my own but he would not have dreamed of going when I was feeling poorly. Not so dizzy today but still not feeling great. Will see how things go but if no better I may have to contact the hospital.
Hope you are all well and many thanks for your posts.
Morning all: Small earthquake in LA this morning, but didn't feel it here. Lots of wind overnight though, with the windchimes going full tilt. Went out to get the papers and the moon was still bright and full in the morning sky.
Is it me or is the LotL came still down? It was there last night......
Limpy: No need to feel bad about Monday laughs - the "midnight snack" was a hoot :-)
Brenda: Thanks for the news about the feeder being moved.
George: Good to see you; sounds like you're getting a lot accomplished.
Off to get breakfast and get organized before watching "Diane's" press conference from the astrophysicists at Harvard-Smithsonian.
Have a good day everyone.
Good to see Ospreys are putting in an appearance - and I see Blue XD is on his way: I hope Green J is too, and that EJ and Odin have synchronised their watches this year!
OH has gone to fetch the car, and I have been sowing Tomato seeds in the greenhouse - always try to do them on his birthday! "Somebody" has taken possession of last year's House Martin nest on our end gable: OH reckons it's a Sparrow and I am sure I saw a Bluetit fly out; maybe they are in competition for it!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
"Hello" to people above - still having trouble with the site, and totally missed the recent posts.
Well done, George - and I hope all goes well with the heart monitor.
I hope you will soon feel a bit stronger, Margo - take care while you are dizzy.
Margo: Posts crossed but sorry to hear you're feeling offish. Do hope it passes without having to call the hospital. Thinking of you; let us know how you're doing.
Diane: Hope you're having better luck than I am - can't load that Harvard/Smithsonian news conference at all.... :-(
