Weekly Chat, Sunday, March 21, 2010

Will EJ return this week?  What if another female tries to claim the nest?  Will super-Odin return to fish another year? Or will EJ take another mate (she'd better not!!)  Will YOU be the lucky blogger to catch the first glimpse of an osprey at LG?  Tune in to the Loch Garten LIVE webcam for the first installment of Loch Garten Ospreys - 2010!!

Seriously, lots of interesting chat on the last page or two of the previous week's chatter.  Catch up now because you won't have time once the ospreys are back in town!  :-)

  • GOOD MORNING LOCH GARTEN!!!

Anyway thank you HeatherB and Annette for your help.  You both worked. So many thanks.  Loch Garten looks as wet and dreich as Tayside at the moment.  Yuch weather.

And Maureen Hello to you Won't be long and I keep coming back into the comp room to make sure she IS there.  Excitement.  Later XXXXXXXXXX

  • Just missed Cirrus.  Good morning to you girl!!

Everything in life is speaking in spite of its apparent silence.

  • Morning, All.

A belated thank you to AQ for the lovely link to the pics of the 4 masted ships in her history pages:  I'm still catching up as there is SO much to read from when I was away. Also interested in the history of the camels, I knew they were not native to AUS and we do seem to see a few from time to time, on TV progs.

Ginnie:   Yes, you are right, these pages were not here last year- we sort of took over the main Blog which just annoyed people who only wanted bird related content on the site-  then the RSPB kindly revamped the whole site, so that we can make our own 'threads' here and talk about anything we like, as well as being (in the main) serious about the ospreys etc. on the other pages.  Now we seem to have created a lovely little community where we gossip, as you may gather, about anything under the sun, including astronomy!

Annette:    I was annoyed at missing the Oscars as although its a hammy night, its still fun to see the latest releases being discussed & see the stars in their finery.  Would probably have tried to find a TV screen that night if I had known that Lauren Bacall was going to appear - one of my heroes.  'Alice' is well done, we were especially pleased that they did not just hijack the books, but Alice appears as her more grown up self, returning later to Wonderland (this will not spoil the plot for those of you who have not seen it yet). The effects are very good and most of the performances a triumph. (does Johnny Depp ever make a bad film?).

I learnt to type on the old 'bash 'em'  type of keyboard, but graduated to the electric ones when at work in my late teens. It was a time of the very very mini-skirts: my Mother said 'You can't go to work wearing that!' but you can't tell the young what to do, just the same as today.

Whilst we were away, the house next door was finally sold, after being empty and on the market for a long time.  Now we are agog as to who will eventually move in- will they hate/love our Dog, will they be a couple, old/young or will there be some more children in the street? - we don't have many so that might be nice.

    Have a Good Day, All.

  • Morning, Cirrus & Tish:  you came on while I typed the above long ramble.  How exciting it is watching that empty nest!!

  • Tish , Lindybird  good am to you too. Hello you fans out there.

I've been combing the pages looking for who gave out the MWSnap info .....  can't find you girl ! but THANKS.. I'm experimenting with it now - don't understand all the icons and keep messing up what I want to snap BUT..... I've been practcing on the Estonian Eagle nest and have some great pics from the live video feed. So, I am VERY grateful to you. Also have a great (smile) pic of EJ's empty nest (broad grin)

  • While we were all "wintering" your rambles were a delight so thank you Lindybird!!

  • Morning all,

Re screenshots. MWSNAP is good also FRAPS. There is lots of free software if you search around.

This is an interesting sighting for Rutland Water fans:

    26/03 07:57 CAMBRIDGESHIRE : Osprey, Castor Hanglands [S]
    one flew west yesterday
I think the above could be the same one reported over Farcet Fen. Castor Hanglands is in a direct line to Rutland Water.

  • Morning all.

JSB and Annette........thank you both sooooooooo much. I now have a perfect view of 'our' nest. Live video is working perfectly. I shall be glued to screen for the homecoming of OUR EJ.

    I can't thank you enough.

Caerann.....mummy owl looks gorgeous couldn't see babies, I think they were being fed.

    Maureen x
