Will EJ return this week? What if another female tries to claim the nest? Will super-Odin return to fish another year? Or will EJ take another mate (she'd better not!!) Will YOU be the lucky blogger to catch the first glimpse of an osprey at LG? Tune in to the Loch Garten LIVE webcam for the first installment of Loch Garten Ospreys - 2010!!
Seriously, lots of interesting chat on the last page or two of the previous week's chatter. Catch up now because you won't have time once the ospreys are back in town! :-)
Haven't gone out - weather turned cold and dull. Not helping in the garden - decided I would spend too much time standing still and getting cold, so am supervising tidying perennial beds by occasional checks from the window! Mostly sitting here looking back over last two years of LG diary! I do so hope Odin will be here for EJ again this year, so much more useful than OVS!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Hi everyone. Linda, the Estonia female Eagle has laid her first egg and is brooding !!! Just in case anyone is interested apart from David Sexton and me :)
Morning all: Now have the LG cam firmly established in top left-hand corner of my screen. Just like the old days! When did EJ show up last year? And how about the previous year?
Tiger: Thanks again for the links - love the crow and the kitten video - what a kick!
Cirrus: Brilliant. Clearly I'm a latecomer to the ISS party. What a nice extra from your weatherman. Thanks for the link. I found a lot of interesting info after Tiger's initial post. What you say about people not being interested works the same for the oceans. They look so - well, flat and boring at times - but there's so much life under the surface. When I'm at the whale count, casual strollers and hikers often stand with us and get a huge kick out of seeing a whale blow, which never fails to elicit cries of delight and amazement.
Hallo Auntie and Wattle: Not to worry about postings. Just as long as you're both okay! OG: Hope you're enjoying your day at home - supervising from the warmth of the house sounds like a very smart plan. Morning Margobird: Nice to see you.
dibnlib; Shame about your Mom. :-( I have my Mom's engagement and wedding ring, which aren't valuable, and I don't wear them, although my sister (who has a lovely emerald ring she gave my Mom years and years ago) says I should (my Mom died a while ago). I just wear my own wedding ring and not much else unless I'm going out to dinner, concert, etc. Obvious solution here is to go out to dinner and concerts more often (why didn't I think of that before).
Diane/Caerann: Are you following the health care vote today. If it doesn't pass, I'll be looking for drinking buddies.....
Off to grocery store then to gym.
Afternoon all from TI,
Thanks everyone for chat,links,pics etc.
As today was such a beautiful spring day we visited National Trust property Anglesey Abbey which is near Newmarket and Cambridge. We had a nice walk around the gardens where there are over 200 species of snowdrops. We normally go in February but as the weather was so bad this was our first visit this year.

I took this picture of some snowdrops still in flower.
Morning Alan: Thanks for Anglesey link and pretty photo but my, 200 species of snowdrops!
Afternoon all - been a lovely day here until now, clouding over a bit. Been busy today sorting stuff for our few days away - from Tuesday to Friday - going to Dublin again! I can't believe we were stupid enough to book it for the week we are hoping for the return of EJ :((
Cirrus - thanks for the info about Linda's egg - I follow that camera too - and its such a lovely clear picture.
Alan - lovely photo of the snowdrops - 200 species - amazing!
Margobird - I know what you mean about needing someone else to do the housework over the next few months
OG - what a sensible way to garden when its cold - supervising from the window!! I'll have to try it -- don't think it will work here though.
Thanks to everyone else for chat, links etc
Take care all
Joan - avid bird and nature watcher in Northumberland!

Hi, I'm back! Great photo of the pretty snowdrops, Alan. Also enjoyed the three 'bobbleheads' being fed yesterday.
How exciting that there is now an osprey on the nest at L. of Lowes. Wonder how far she has flown.
So very sorry to hear about your friend, Tiger. At least you had some news, I expect that quite often people just 'disappear' from forums & you are left to wonder what happened. You certainly had a long friendship which is something to cherish.
Welcome to Heron who has joined our Osprey Group today: hope there is no confusion as we already have Heron77.
Rather than noting every peregrine egg laid etc. I will just put in a link to the nesting calendars when they are updated otherwise it will get a bit out of hand:

Tiny bird exploring LG nest (ambitious, right?)
Sudden burst of chat activity!
Cirrus – thanks for news of Estonia Eagle – am interested, but just too many birds to follow!
Annette – interesting what you say about oceans – we were given a great book about the Sea around Scotland at the environment day – so much in it (the book and the sea!). I hope you wore more than “my own wedding ring and not much else” when you called at the grocery store! You asked about EJ’s past dates: 2008 arrived 26 March, first egg 18 April (with OVS), 1st chick 24 May and 2009 arrived 25 March, first egg 16 April, 1st chick 22 May.
Alan – thanks for snowdrops at Anglesey Abbey – here is one of my favourites from there – a bit later in the year – we used to take F-i-L there on our annual spring visit south.
DjoanS – enjoy your trip to Dublin – will you have web access?
Welcome back again, Lindybird.
