Will EJ return this week? What if another female tries to claim the nest? Will super-Odin return to fish another year? Or will EJ take another mate (she'd better not!!) Will YOU be the lucky blogger to catch the first glimpse of an osprey at LG? Tune in to the Loch Garten LIVE webcam for the first installment of Loch Garten Ospreys - 2010!!
Seriously, lots of interesting chat on the last page or two of the previous week's chatter. Catch up now because you won't have time once the ospreys are back in town! :-)
Thanks for that OG. This was taken today:
Love both the pics of the wonderful white trees. Sunny here today, and all the way back home this morning from our trip. We travelled from Tenbury Wells in Worcestershire, through Herefordshire and North. All the way we were so bouyed up by the wonderful scenery, great rolling valleys and green hills, with glimpses of daffodils beginning to flower, spring lambs, a tractor Event (some really old ones there, Husband said), & a fascinating whole field of reeds being grown I expect for the purpose of roof thatching (we had a programme here on TV about how they do this, recently.) There were quaint villages with strangely shaped cottages, lots & lots of pretty churches, some large farms, and some pretty impressive large houses. You might gather that we really enjoyed our 2 hour journey.
The Surprise Party was a great success: the party Girl had no idea, she thought she was going out for a dinner, and was met by streamers, balloons, and a room full of over 80 friends & relatives!! - all of us clapping & cheering. She recovered well from the shock & was soon joining in with the dancing, as the theme of the party was 'Strictly Come Dancing', & we all dressed up (Husband looked handsome in best suit & bow tie) An elegant lady teacher was present, to teach us all who wanted to join in, to dance various ballroom steps, starting of course with the waltz. I did my best but after about an hour, had to sit down as it got very warm. We were glad we were booked in to stay at the venue, and did not have far to go to tumble into bed eventually, listening to the party going on for another half an hour until midnight.
Thanks to OG for the reminder of the dates that EJ arrived & laid eggs previously. Can't contain my excitement that she may soon return. Liked your story about the Cockatoo making a bee-line for you when you didn't really fancy the idea: it reminded me of the tales you hear about people having guests who declare that they don't really like cats, then they are the person the cat of the house sits upon.
Glad to hear you are ok, auntie: we don't mind when you pop in, as you obviously have a busy life. Take Care of yourself!
Must go & cook supper now, we arn't really sure what we fancy today, so it will be something light. As its supposed to be Spring now, we must start eating more salad and less stodge.
ALAN Thank you for the lovel photo of snowdrops. Amazing there are 200 varieties. How different are they all.
ANNETTE I wear earrings and rings all the time (unless gardening or swimming.) You are definitely right, you must go out to dine and concerts frequently to give yourself an excuse to wear jewellery more often. I can imagine it " and what are you celebrating tonight Annette"? "Wearing my rings" the reply
More lovely photos
LINDYBIRD So glad the surprise party was such a success and it sounds like a lovely journey home. Didn't realize we had 2 herons so I may have made a mistake when I posted that I hoped heron enjoyed their first osprey videocam watching.!!
Hi dibnlib. Funny this talk of jewellery: at the party I wore a necklace I have been saving for a special occasion, its silver with drops of opal (the usual milky white) and my favourite stone, amethyst. I always wear my wedding ring, can't get it off, and never go out without watch & earrings (have dozens of pairs but don't tell OH as he doesnt notice them anyway!).
Margobird: Think it was you who said you have to draw in your eyebrows- mine are now non existent as they are very pale anyway, and have now gone grey and disappeared, so I have to draw them in several times a day! Looked into the possibility of having them tattooed on, as know at least 2 people who have done this: was told it would cost £300 - £400 and may only last for 12 months!! Needless to say, have not done it!
One of Mollys owlets is pipping. Nearly 17000 viewers:

Well if this is not the best news of the day I dont know what is:
Second osprey back at Rutland! 32(05) back on Lagoon 4 this afternoon. Great views from Egleton reserve, Egleton centre open tomorrow 9a.m.
My avatar is 32(05) in flight.
FAB
The Trucker's blog this morning (Sunday) gives link to this page of videos which are compilations from the cam set to music http://bigrigtravels.net/druvideos.html probably easier to watch than the live shots if you want to see scenery.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

Alan, thank you so much for that fantastic news. Could he have been one of those seen in Hertfordshire yesterday which you were wondering where they were heading? Either way these Rutland birds are certainly not hanging about this spring.
Best news of the day? The year more like!!
If his mate, the un-ringed female, also makes it back it is going to be a great year for watching on Lagoon 4.
FAB indeed!
