Simply amazing. Scientists in Tasmania are tracking bees with tiny sensors. The next stage is to shrink the sensor to track fruit fly & mosquitoes.
Temp may be cooler but the high humidity makes it feel just as unpleasant. The bushfires have destroyed at least 15 homes, 425,000 hectares, not to mention stock, crops & fencing. Concern that the first stage of the Tour DownUnder may have to be cancelled as the route is through one of the bushfire areas. Many of the fires, some still not under control, are in areas I have visited or plan to visit on photo excursions. News is much worse when one can picture the scene rather than just another anonymous place in the news. I haven't been out in the car since last Mon and driving to church this morn I felt quite strange.
I've never seen the Northern Lights so that was beautiful viewing!
It was a beautiful, clear afternoon at the Ferry today - this gull was being a right poser:
Doesn't he look totally cool?
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Good Evening All. I went to Minsmere today - look what I saw.

The warning for dog owners is on the news.
Unknown said: Gave the butcher at Blankettyside a visit George, Do you mean, Blacketyside, which I have heard about. I even went to Google, which is what I do when I don't recognise a place name, but couldn't find Blankettyside. The name intrigued me. I do enjoy an Aberdeen Angus steak but I have to buy mine at Waitrose. Brenda it was kind a spooky when I clicked on your link just now the report was being read out about the dog disease on the BBC.
LOL Mary. It does sound bad though.
Limpy - what is that cute little animal in your photo, is it a stoat or weasel.... I never know the difference! :-) maybe it is something smaller, a dormouse! whatever it is, cuteness abounds LOL
Thanks for confirming about Blacketyside, Mary

Brenda it does sound awful. If I had a dog I would be paranoid about walking it anywhere!
We have never bought any butcher meat from it Brenda, but have bought other produce, it is usually very busy Fri/Sat as there is a big playground place for the kids.
It used to be a PYO strawberry's place connected to the farm, and then they built this new place.
