Simply amazing. Scientists in Tasmania are tracking bees with tiny sensors. The next stage is to shrink the sensor to track fruit fly & mosquitoes.
Temp may be cooler but the high humidity makes it feel just as unpleasant. The bushfires have destroyed at least 15 homes, 425,000 hectares, not to mention stock, crops & fencing. Concern that the first stage of the Tour DownUnder may have to be cancelled as the route is through one of the bushfire areas. Many of the fires, some still not under control, are in areas I have visited or plan to visit on photo excursions. News is much worse when one can picture the scene rather than just another anonymous place in the news. I haven't been out in the car since last Mon and driving to church this morn I felt quite strange.
Evening all: Am sitting in my nightie with my feet up and it feels so nice may do the same thing all day tomorrow. Another whizz/zoom day today ending with yoga class, which has been packed since the beginning of the year with barely room to take a deep breath, let alone do a side twist! Roll on March, when everyone's New Year's Resolutions will be fading fast. Picked up my clothes from daughter's house; no traces of dog hair or duck poop on anything!
Lynette: Happy Belated Birthday!
Diane: Deep-fired vampire? Ha! You'll fit right in. :-) That Mountain Ash video is spooky! Re the birds, some of those patterns are like works of art painted in the sky. Oh dear, which to worry about: the drought or the BBC's timeline of the future? :-) Seriously, that timeline is fascinating - sort of put things in perspective, doesn't it?
Heather: So sorry to hear that your daughter is down right now. Perhaps the emotional ups and downs become more intense as the official "end" of the marriage approaches and any remaining hopes and dreams are finally dashed. Such a shame - and such a worry for you. Funny, I use the "nobody died" expression too!
Clare: So how are your burlesque ambitions coming along? :-)
OG: Hope you have/had a nice day out.
jsb: Glad things are drying out. Let us know if that new Damp Trap works.
Thanks everyone for posts and photos. Have a good Thursday!

On the plus side Limpy has noticed that thighs and bum are shrinking - yay!
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Morning ALL
Still dark here but just looked out and it is dry.
OG - We hardly seen a bird at the feeder yesterday, so will be really gutted if its like that at the weekend, was looking forward to filling in my bird count too. I think Gordon Buchanan is a brilliant presenter, as is Simon King. As for WW is standing about in rivers in the dark really necessary LOL.....
Enjoy your Artisans Fair, sounds interesting.
Lynnette - Happy belated birthday, glad you had a lovely day.
Lindybird - I couldn't agree with you more about Gordon Buchanan's enthusiasm, I bought his Film the Bear Family for the Ipad, so I could watch during a plane journey, and his passion for animals shines through.
Diane - The ghost story film hmmm interesting :-) The video of the bird trails were fascinating, I thought the Starlings and Pigeons most intriguing. The BBC one I couldn't see because it says its not accessible from the UK LOL....
Well Mr. Red Squirrel is on the Feeder Cam once again, so the birds will have to wait.
EJ's Memorial Balgavies Loch Ospreys 2023
I know Auntie posted some of her bird photo's the other day, but have you seen any of her Osprey Photographs, they are fantastic, I don't think I have ever seen such a wonderful collection of Osprey photographs as hers. She modestly told me she was a beginner, well I do not think so, she has been hiding her light under a bushel, and is the most talented beginner I have ever seen.
AUNTIE'S OSPREY PHOTOGRAPHS.
Be prepared to be blown away!!!
I did ask Auntie's permission to post the link!
Mary. You are quite right....of course....! They are spectacular shots and I see they were taken in Finland.
Birdies LG DU update.
MARY I have flagged your post in error, sorry. I'm using a small keyboard without my stylus :-((
