Simply amazing. Scientists in Tasmania are tracking bees with tiny sensors. The next stage is to shrink the sensor to track fruit fly & mosquitoes.
Temp may be cooler but the high humidity makes it feel just as unpleasant. The bushfires have destroyed at least 15 homes, 425,000 hectares, not to mention stock, crops & fencing. Concern that the first stage of the Tour DownUnder may have to be cancelled as the route is through one of the bushfire areas. Many of the fires, some still not under control, are in areas I have visited or plan to visit on photo excursions. News is much worse when one can picture the scene rather than just another anonymous place in the news. I haven't been out in the car since last Mon and driving to church this morn I felt quite strange.
Just read on Bird Guides weekly letter that Chris Packham has been voted as the the new President of the BTO.
Oh!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Summerhouse is drying out nicely, after a week of heater/air extraction....probable electricity cost £10-£15. Also local talk of parked cars getting rather damp inside with the wet weather. We have found at supermarket 'As*a' a 'Damp Trap' inexpensive product, which is able to help dry out damp places. Only got it today, so let's see how it performs. It is a small box with a perforated blue lid. Probably contains silica-gel or similar.

First real chance I've had to come on this week. So many posts already so too many to go back to the beginning. Love the picture from Minsmere, Limpy.
Lovely pictures of the red squirrel, MaryGK. Keep meaning to have a look at the cam and forget to do so.
GBBC is this weekend, mustn't forget to do it but normally when I do remember they all disappear as you have said Brenda H. Let's hope the weather is reasonable and they will attend the feeders just for us!!
Again weather - damp start then brightened only to cloud over again. Never mind, it could be worse.
Will look back at the news and try to catch up. Had a lovely day yesterday - gym in the morning, a women's meeting at church in the afternoon and then OH took me out for a birthday meal in the evening with dau. chauffeuring. The resteraunt wasn't too far from our home.

So sorry Lynette that I have missed your Birthday. Glad you had a lovely day.
A Belated Happy Birthday.
Just picked up about your Dau2, AQ. Do hope that the AS has subsided - twins hey, she will have her hands full but all worth it in the end no doubt.
Glad to see George posting, enjoy the indoor bowls tournament.
Hi to all the regulars, Diane, Annette(do hope you are feeling better), Margobird, Lindybird, BrendaH, MaryGK, OG,Rita, Clare, Limpy and I'm sure I've forgotten someone. Oh and Alan and Uncle Tom Cobley and all. Love reading all your news.
jsb, Pleased to hear that your summerhouse is now drying out. I have seen damp traps for putting on window sills, where there is condensation, but don't know how well they work.
Lynette - A Belated Happy Birthday! So glad that you had a nice celebration meal out in the evening!
Lynette: HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!
Heather: I'm so sorry for your daughter. At the time, my divorce was devastating, and I didn't think I'd ever recover from the heartache and betrayal. But in retrospect, I know it was absolutely necessary for my own personal growth, progress, and quality of life. I wish your daughter healing and wisdom!
Hi, all. Here are some interesting things (at least I thought so).
Okay...this is a very short nature ghost story called Mountain Ash. It's the eeriest, most chilling, yet strangely compelling thing I've seen in a while -- and it's a cartoon. I watched it three times and shivered mightily every single time. You've been warned...
Check out these mesmerizing videos of the trails of individual birds flying in flocks. It's hard to explain in words. I recommend the gulls and the black vultures.
THIS is why Annette is worried. Apparently, the apocalypse begins with sunshine and balmy days. I hope this ends soon, A. :-(
I was utterly fascinated by this Timeline of the Far Future by the BBC.
