Hi all: Lots of news about ospreys and other stuff plus photos (if you're lucky!) on the previous pages.
Maureen it is great. I find it hard to imagine how you feel.
Meanwhile at DPOF the site where osprey streaming webcam began, has the ospreys back. Sadly for the first time in seven years there are no cameras at Brookehaven Long Island, to record Dennis and Betty. However our roving reporter Tim has been out on Long Island and photographed Betty. See http://mysite.verizon.net/vzewgkwc/ospreyampothers/

Tiger Signature
Thanks to Tiger for the great pic of the skies. Was especially interested in it as we have been several times to the Teide National Park in Tenerife: as you can see from the picture, the main part of the Nat Park is the mountain, Mount Teide, which is a huge extinct volcano and you can stand in the bowl of the summit, which is several miles across! I think I'm correct in saying its the biggest mountain in the whole of Spain, as its very high. We found it mind blowing, do go if you ever get the chance: the vegetation changes several times on your car journey up, from bleak to tropical, to bleak again, and then snow!
Dashing off now as we are going away for one night to a Surprise 60th Birthday Party near Worcester, can't wait to see her face when she sees us all! (Dog is going to be spoilt by our eldest son while we are gone, so he's OK). Will tell you all about it tomorrow. Have good weekends, everyone.
About an hour ago I received the sad news that a poster I have known online for nearly eleven years is dead. Although I never met him he was a real presence in my life. He was only 58 years old.
Although he died on February 19 I only got the news today. Cyberspace brings a lot of joy and a lot of sadness.
I truly am sorry for your loss Tiger . There are many I would miss from the community members I know and this is only my second season. (Thank goodness I am wiser now about 'nest procedures' !!!!! )
Good morning, all. The Community Environment Day yesterday was excellent. All about Waste Management, Conservation and Energy. Just sad that few members of the public came along. There were talks, workshops, videos – and loads of information “stalls” manned by groups, quangos, local authority, charities etc. It was all free, and there were several practical handouts – lots of info available but only one organisation pushing its printed papers on everyone, rather against the objectives of the day, but they didn’t seem to recognise the “big picture”! Everyone was very friendly and even ‘though we already recycle and compost and belong to several conservation charities, we found it very informative. I also had an Osprey conversation with a Mersehead RSPB worker who worked at LG in 2008!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
So sorry to hear this Tiger. We do indeed make special friends online, especially when we share a passion for something. There are one or two posters who I would miss a lot too. Thinking of you x
Tiger - Yes a wonderful APOD indeed. I was looking at that first thing this morning. It gave me quite a lift on this horribly grey and rainy day.

Tiger I am so sorry to read your sad news, so young too. You get to know people so well although you never meet them.
