Hi all: Lots of news about ospreys and other stuff plus photos (if you're lucky!) on the previous pages.
There are two Eagles now on the Estonian nest. Her mate has turned up !!!
Unknown said: Just posted on LG blog but thought I'd post here too> I'm just home from Roy Dennis's lecture in Edinburgh. Everybody agreed how fascinating he is to listen to. The second half was all about tracking the birds and observing their migration routes. He even mentioned poor Darling Deshar and how we were eagerly watching his migration. Roy even made the audience laugh when he mentioned that praying for Deshar really wasn't going to help him.The good news is that all 5 of his tracked adult ospreys are on their way home. It seems Nimrod learned from last year when he was late home and had to fight to get his nest (and his girl) back. Looks as if he's not planning on making that mistake again. The ospreys are on their way home!!! :)

I'm glad you were able to go and to be able to pass on the news of Roy's remarkable project. :)

Good (Wednesday) morning. A quick read through yesterday and last night – enjoyed reading, and thanks, but I haven’t got any relevant input arising – other than to say it’s good to “hear” Diane sounding so much better. Lifted and divided all our Hostas yesterday and planted in large pots – they get so big that they take over the perennial beds. Birds were annoyed as we did it on the edge of the deck where the feeders are, so they missed their tea-time visit. Off to Carlisle today – camera shop and lunch out (yes, it is the second lunch out this week!) for OH’s birthday – 62 today, so for two weeks he gets reminded that he is older than me!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Morning all from TI,
So many posts since last night. If you read between the lines you can feel the anticipation and excitement building.
Hazelwoods: Thanks for the inside news that all of Roys birds are on their way.
Cirrus : When I was watching the Estonia nest yesterday the 2 birds were there sorting out the sticks. That was before the snow came and covered it all up.
Annette : I was watching Phoebe last night but did not see the lizard incident live. I later watched the recording and it is one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. I do agree that the lizard must have been attracted by the smell of the non viable egg but how Phoebe had the instinct to remove it is incredible.
Phoebe has been very unlucky with her last two clutches of eggs. I can now understand why they have 4 or 5 in a year. Watching the hummers has been a great learning process for me.
Thanks everyone else. Off to catch up on some stuff now. Be back later.
Alan this video of Lizard v Phoebe is destined to be a classic. See http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/5495849
These hummingbirds were supposed to be a fill in until the ospreys arrived.

Good morning Tiger what an amazing video and more than just a fill in. What fascinating little birds they are. Hopethe other egg will hatch successfully.
Margobird
Good morning Cirrus have been watching but have only managed to see the female as of now. I am watching so many different web cams now and it is getting ever more difficult keeping up with them. Watched the Norfolk Virginia eagle cam a little while ago and the 3 chicks were being fed. Someithing will have to go if I am to keep up with all things osprey. Have a good day.
Tiger Thanks for Hummingbird link. I've been trying to find out why Phoebe removed an egg from the nest!! having defended it from the lizard. Can't find any info though - is it mentioned anywhere that you know of?
Hello Annette and yes it was all happening at Phoebe's nest yesterday. I didn't see it live but what a brave litte bird she is and intellingent enough to take the failed egg away because of the smell.
That is a lovely photo of Thunder and I have long believed that animals grieve just like us when a loved one passes away.
