Weekly Chat, Sunday, March 14

Hi all: Lots of news about ospreys and other stuff plus photos (if you're lucky!)  on the previous pages.

  • Photo gone already Alan and hopefully we will be able to cut our lawns soon but they are still quite damp from all the rainb we had.

Think they are saying on Phoebe's site that one of the eggs may not be viable.

ALAN  I loved the Scottie as well. Mind you I would have hated to be the judge as they were all magnificent in their own way.

OG sorry you cannot get "wild Scotland. I searched myself with no luck  it is on again tonight so do try again just in case.

Sad news I am afraid. I phoned my friend this am expecting good news of Phoebe the Bassett esp as she was doing better on Fri and Sat, It did not last and she was put to sleep at 11 o'clock last night .I put a card in the post and will take my friend some flowers in a couple of days time.

First aid training at "the meeting place" where I do my voluntary work so I am looking forward to that. OH is pleased as at the moment I would be no use to anyone in a crisis. Hopefully after tomorrow that will have changed

dibnlib, many thanks for the above. In the rest of the UK, some will be able to get or record the 'Wild Scotland' broadcast on STV, which is on at 8pm, free to air satellite. On Freesat you need the 'other satellite' option on the menu. I think something similar, will be available on Sky, not sure about cable though, outside Scotland.

  • Alan: Oh, that white puffin is one of the most beautiful birds I've ever seen!!! Thanks.

Tiger: I think Marge will be back this year. She's a tough ol' gal. :-)

  • dibnlib so sorry to read that your friend's Basset did not make it, so very sad.

For anyone watching I have just seen a female osprey on the Spanish nest.

  • Diane, AQ and anyone else interested - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/comment/columnists/christopherbooker/7437040/Eco-friendly-but-not-to-eagles.html  Please read, but be prepared for the dead red kite in the pic.  I will never understand how two sides of an argument can say totally different things, surely one is right and one is wrong - how are we to know who is telling the truth?  I find it hard to believe what any government office tells me, it's a shame conservation bodies feel the need to get into bed with politicians who always have an agenda. Sorry, soapbox.

  • Oh dear, all the media here has gone totally gaga `cause David Beckham has had his foot-operation done here yesterday and Victoria might fly here too

  • Hello auntie.  I am sorry David Beckham has been injured but there are so many other things going on in the world that I can't understand all the fuss.  At least he will be getting the best of treatment whereas there are so many people who need operations but have to wait such a long time.  Makes me sound a bit of a misery but that is how I feel about.  It took up a good chunk of the news last night.

  • TerryM : I have just read the arcticle on wind farms and I must say that I think they are a waste of space. We have numerous turbines round and about and most of the time they are either not working because of some technical fault or there is no wind. One sentence in the article sums it all up for me "The main practical objection to turbines, of course, is that they are useless, producing derisory amounts of electricity at colossal cost."

  • TerryM I totally agree with you.  Such a sad picture but perhaps if more people looked at it things might change.
