Hi all: Lots of news about ospreys and other stuff plus photos (if you're lucky!) on the previous pages.
After Thursday’s dreich morning and then real rain in the afternoon, we have a sunny Friday – so far! Slept well last night – but must pace my day better! We all seem to be busy – I suppose we in the cool north are coming out of hibernation and doing more things outside, those in Australia are able to leave their a/c and enjoy the fresh autumn days – and a certain person in SoCal is always dashing about anyway! A quiet night for chat. Lindybird – hope you had a good night after a busy day unpacking, washing and ironing. Annette – enjoy your day with Daughter – and Oro, I assume. Diane – well done for braving the haircut – hope you are pleased with your summer look, but I guess that means more visits to keep it that length. Got to get mine sorted – last cut seems all wrong – bits I wanted left longer are too short, bits which needed “pruning” are too long – and now I’ve hacked at my fringe myself, that’s just awful! Just snuck a look at Barncam – they are both asleep in the box right now. AQ – good night, sleep tight!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Welcome back Lindybird so glad you had a good holiday with sun. Lucky old you with a sun tan looking a lot more healthy than most of us do. Hope you are managing to get stuck into all the washing, it is amazing how much you come back with.
We went up to London just over a week ago to PM Question time and found it most interesting. The Houses of Parliament are just stunning inside and we will be going back to have a longer look around. No good shouting out any of my thoughts on politiicans as they have a screen all the way round the gallery so it would have been a wasted effort on my part.
Dull old day her in Poole, rain overnight and this morning, not heavy but it is that drizzle which soaks you just as much.
Just come back from the doctors where I went with a bit of a shopping list so to speak. Have been told by several people that I have a curvature to my spine. He noticed that I have an imblance in my rib cage and he has given me excercies to do and I will go back later this year to see how it is. I also have a very sore toe, a legacy from my trip to London when my shoes rubbed. It has got infected so now on anticiotices to cure it hopefully. Following on from recent hearing test at Boots I decided to get a second opinion as to whether I need hearing aids. It crossed my mind that perhaps Boots are on a sales drive. I know I have lost a bit of hearing but will feel happier to get a second opinion before I spend £2,000 or more on hearing aids. He seemed to agree that Boots could be sales motivated. This test will be done at the docters surgery and depending on the results I will make my mind up as to whether or not I go for NHS hearing aids. Lastly I have another skin cancer on my forehead. I had several removed last year but noticed this one a few weeks ago and realised it is the same thing. That will be cut away and the only thing I dread about that is the injections as they are so painful into the forehead. I really do need rubbing out and drawing again but hey our ospreys are on their way so I am not down about things at all.
To all thanks for the all the news, screen captures and news and have a good day.
Margobird
Good morning Alan from a dull and wet Poole where it has been raining on an off since yesterday afternoon. Any hope of getting grass cut this weekend has gone out of the window.
Lily and Hope are just the cuttest. I watched the vidieo of Hope finding it hard to get any sort of balance in the den and just could not smiling at her. This for me has been a wonderful experience. Weather there sounds very windy today and I believe it has turned colder again now.
Have a good day and take care.
Hi everyone.Weather-wise after a slightly dreich start to the day it's turned out to be quite a nice day here, although quite breezy. Not exactly a case of the sun splitting the trees but at the moment I'd say that sunshine was narrowly ahead of cloud cover on points. Although as I look out of the kitchen window, it looks like cloud cover has just scored a 10 - 8 round, with a serious of thunderous body shots and quick-fire combinations.Lindybird: The red wine and beer story sounds like a nightmare. Don't know what would drive me madder. The spillages or going through luggage claim looking like the aftermath of a Hogmanay party.Maureen: Great to hear from you again and glad you're feeling better. I can't wait for my debut LG Ospreys watching season to start. Thanks for keeping track of the countdown.AQ: Thanks for the SA history. A fantastically informative and entertaining read. Love the fact that the state emblem is a bird.OG: I know exactly what you mean about trying to keep up with the chat. Sometimes I wish there was a typing equivalent of the general nods, waves, and other movements and noises of recognition, agreement etc. that we make during face to face communication.Annette: Hope you enjoy your visit to your daughter.Diane: Thanks for the barn owl cam link. I'm a big fan of owls, although going by the middle of the night UK time for some of my post; they might start accusing me of trying to impersonate them.
A very happy Friday to all. Have a great day Everybody.
Paul.
Warning! This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar. Approach with extreme edginess.
Good morning Maureen so nice to see you back and sorry you have not been feeling good.
Lily and Hope are just magic. Just love all the videos that people have taken as well as the photos. I have the cam o all the time so I don't miss Hope having a tantrum, Lily snoring and Hope's obvious enjoyment when she is being fedl. Have just looked at the cam and it is snowing there so they won't be leaving the den just yet. I am really going to miss them when they do, it has been a wonderful experience.
Do look after yourself and hope you have a good day. xxx
Hi Margobird. Am, as you say, trying to 'get stuck in', to the laundry which is so boring isn't it. Also found I had 93 messages on my email, so am trawling through those to sort out which are important. Sorry to hear about your health problems, will send you an old fashioned school rubber so we can rub you out & start again without them. Injections in the forehead don't sound nice, but just think some people actually pay for them to do that with botox!
Had quite good weather yesterday & lots of sun this morning, so am popping in & out of the garden refilling the bird feeders & putting out more washing. Some pretty crocus are up & some tete a tete daffs, but not much else.

Thanks Alan shows how time goes so quickly it doesn;t seem long ago that they hatched.
You made me sille about the rubber Lindybird. I have about 5 of these skin cancers removed and as they have to draw the skin up to stitch I consider I have had a free face lift, no wrinkles as skin nice and tight.
Glad you have got good weather for drying washing, It is miserable here, wet and now it looks as though a sea mist is coming in.
I am listening to Lily the bear having such a good old snore at the moment. It is snowing there so weather could be worse here.
Sorry to hear about your weather, Margobird; thought it might be sunny all over UK today. You sound as if your 'face lifts' are working alright, but don't suppose you can recommend them for general use in the circumstances!
The ill fated trousers are now on the line & I hope I have got the stains out or you'll probably hear me screaming from down in Poole!
Hi to Heron, see you came on while we were chatting. The man who spilt the drink said his apologies, so I couldn't really be cross with him, not to his face anyway!
I was sort of hoping that the General Election here might have been held in a hurry & would be all over now, which would have been nice, but no such luck, we are going to have to listen to a lot of rubbish from all sides all over again. Those of us of a certain age have been through this too many times to believe much of what is said by any of them, as life seems to go on just the same afterwards whatever the results of elections. sorry, ranting again, will get off my soapbox now & go get some lunch. Have just given Dog his biscuits with a special treat he loves, a raw egg in his dish- this was to distract him while I cut off some bits of fur on his 'pantaloons' which have bunched together into lumps.
Only 5 days, and just over 10 hours left on the Countdown Clock now!!
EJ could be winging her way towards Scotland as we go about our daily chores. What a thought. Looked in on the Pale Male site, there are as usual some lovely pics on there of Lola in flight. Also an intruder challenging Pale Male in the evening light.
Sorry to hear that you had food poisoning, Diane ; not pleasant, glad to hear you are better now. You be grouchy when you want to! We are not all saints, and need to let off steam about things we find annoying. Have read that they might take off the Petes Pond webcam which will be sad- you would think that some big corporation would fund it. Enjoyed the link to the amazing pic of the white Puffin, and also the great pic of the snowbird. Watched the video of Phoebe seeing off the lizard, she was so protective, just fascinating.
Talking to snakes? I talk to just anything, alive or dead, I've been doing it for ages but at least these days if I'm overheard I can pretend its the dog. Swore at the car yesterday when it stalled on a hill whilst queueing to make a right turn- wasn't my fault of course.
