Weekly Chat, Sunday, March 14

Hi all: Lots of news about ospreys and other stuff plus photos (if you're lucky!)  on the previous pages.

  • Told you I would be in touch soon. LOL {:o)

I have just seen Lily and her cub in Lily's Den.....absolutely mind blowing...beautiful cub and loving Mum.

Don't know how to transfer  site link but hope this works for you.

    Bye again.

    Maureen

  • Thanks Alan. Have you sen Lily and her cub? They have short videos of her being born and her changing behviour to date.

    FABULOUS!!!!!

  • Hi, Maureen.   I'm just catching up, a bit like yourself, as I've been away for a bit on a hol. Everyone has been so busy, I don't know if I can read them all, but gather that there are going to be lots of webcams to be watching besides our LG ones.  Glad you're feeling a bit better.

Thanks, AQ for all the interesting history notes.  I'm sure a lot of us have enjoyed them immensely. Have to look back some more to see which bits I've missed!

  • Maureen :  I have been watching Lily and Hope quite a lot especially when she is alone in the den. Hope is so cute and funny when she falls over and tries to keep her balance.

  • Chat is getting busy, busy, busy.  I too am busy and rather tired, so I can’t keep up!  So good to hear from everyone, but can’t seem to find time to make replies.  Consider yourselves greeted, thanked and appreciated.  I must make special mention of AQ and say “thank you” for your work on the SA history – and for so cleverly rounding it off as the bird postings increase for the LG Osprey season.  And two “welcome back” messages – good to see Maureen back as herself (not Hilary H this time) and feeling better again – and good to see Lindybird home from the Canaries – even if she did look a mucky sight when she landed!  Dianne and Annette – joined Trucker for a while today – hope he’ll soon be away from those vast plains filled with nothing – but so few vehicles on the road! Must stop, slipping into sleep mode, and want to be alert for tomorrow when we are going to an Environmental event in the afternoon.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Thanks, OG.  I've been trying to read lots & lots of pages of postings, but will have to give up now too & go abed, even tho I usually watch 'Question Time' so that I can shout at the screen when I don't agree with the politicians (which is of course most of the time).

Did look in on the Trucker cam mentioned, now I've another addiction to feed!

  • Evening/Morning all:  Busy day today (Thursday) and off to see daughter tomorrow (Friday).

Lindybird: Aha! The Canaries. But OMG  - wine and beer down your outfit and you weren't even drinking it!  Better save the next clean outfit for right before you start the descent or sneak into the bathroom after you've landed to change. Or, as AQ suggests, whip out a plastic mac for high-risk events.  But good you've got a tan, even though we all know they're "bad" for us.  Funny how ironing dominates so many posts.....  :-)

OG: Important info such as George's exploration of Vane Farm could make all the difference for tourists, etc., looking for a cake break.

AQ: Oh please! Here we have three hours to go before yet another Friday. :-)    Hairy-nosed Wombat?  I Googled an image and they're a lot cuter than they sound.  But opals? Ooooh. Just love those. My sister has the most beautiful opal and diamond engagement ring that I've always admired.  I've really enjoyed the history sessions, especially relating it to the history of the western U.S.  Thanks so much.

Maureen: Great to see you. What?! Only six days and three hours (even less now) to the Return of EJ!  (Thanks for keeping track of the countdown).

Warmish here but alleged to be cooling down tomorrow.....

  • Hi, Annette! Enjoy your visit with your daughter! Welcome back, Maureen! AQ, thanks so very much for all of the history installments. Interesting and fun, and they have been a wonderful way to pass the time during the osprey off-season. I appreciate your efforts!

I will try to do a proper catch-up with everyone tomorrow. Like OG said, I'm having trouble keeping up. (Get some rest, OG!). Went to the dreaded beauty salon today and got all of my hair chopped off for summer. Had to convince her that I wouldn't yell at her for cutting it very short.

I can't be an owl tonight, but speaking of owls, both the male and the female are in the Barn Owl Trust nestbox tonight. According to the diary, they have been very active and vocal -- lots of owl whoopee. A new microphone was installed, so we can hear good quality sound from the nestbox this year. Some of the female's movements suggest (to me, at least) that she may be ready to lay the first egg. http://www.thewebbroadcastingcorporation.com/barnowlcam_nestcam.html

Night all. Have a great Friday.

  • Oh dear, Diane, will we recognise you now with your short hairdo?

Annette - Opal is my favourite too. For my 21st the parents bought me an opal pendant. I just liked the ones with deep blue with red flashes. My mother liked what I called the wimpy pale ones. I had no idea I had the more expensive taste. LOL. Later when I was working, I bought myself opal drop earings & a ring. Still love them.

Lindybird - If you want to track the history bits, I have posted the list of dates/pages on your home page.

Maureen - Welcome back. I hope you are feeling much better. Not long now until osprey watch.

  • Maureen    Welcome back. Nice to see you again. Hope you are keeping well.
