Weekly Chat (Non-Osprey), Sunday 25 August 2013

HAPPY NEW WEEK!!!

Here's a link to last week's Weekly Chat thread. The code for this week's Weekly Chat is WC250813 (in case you ever want to search for it from the search box).

I was away most of last week, and I think it's too late for me to get caught up on replies. I have read all of your news and have loved all the photos!

I enjoyed the report and pics from AQ's most recent trip (yay, ducks! And loved that pelican, also the big trees). Wonderful photos from Mulberry and NiteOwl (lilies are one of my very, very favorite flowers; yours are super lovely!). Beautiful dragonfly from Alicat.

I really loved the very majestic photos from Lindy -- ducks and deer! Woo hoo! That's an especially beautiful species of deer. Beautiful hibiscus from Alan. Love your increasingly subversive signatures, Alan. LOL! Glad that Mulberry saw an osprey! Happy belated birthday to Jess.

Glad that Cerist at Dyfi has been found! Nice to see Mike posting here. Brenda: Are you glad or relieved to say good-bye to the puppy? LOL

OG: Hope your sparrow hawk was okay after the window strike! Thanks for posting the excellent photos of handsome Diesel, handsome George, and your own beautiful self!

Nice to see Lynette. I hope you have a grand holiday in Austria.

I hope that Limpy is feeling better!

I'm so very glad that Margo has had good results from the chemo. Sending good energy to you, Margo.

Everyone have a great week! It's Indian Summer here and the temperatures this week will be 90 - 100 F (32.2 - 37.7 C) with very high humidity. Yuck.

  • Hi, Lindy - I hope you manage to get the boring stuff done fairly quickly so you can enjoy the rest of the day.

An exciting trip to Sainsbury's and B&Q?  LOL!

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Good morning, a cloudy start so far, I'm just off to the garden now, hope to start the hedge ... :-)

  • Good morning all and this is a long overdue thank you to all the wonderful people on this forum who have sent me kind thoughts and support over the past months. You have all been of great comfort through a traumatic time. Thanks also for the cards and photos. Have only been looking in for a couple of weeks and have missed so much. Trying to get some weight back on now but having lost so much it is taking time.

Been through a really tough time and I am starting to improve but still feeling quite weak. I have care twice a day, in the morning to help me wash and dress and also at lunchtime when come and make a sandwich. It has been a real shock to me having to rely on people to do so much for me. Had always been fairly active so it has been difficult  for me to get my mind round things. I am impressed with the way things have been in place so quickly. You hear some dreadful stories about Social Services etc but I can only speak as I find as everything has been put place so quickly.

As Heather mentioned the  chemotherapy is starting to work and my bloods have started to improve so unpleasant as it is I will be continuing to have the treatment. Next course starts next Monday and I waiting to hear and hoping they will be able to here to give the injections at home.

i am so disappointed that I missed so much of the osprey season, really missed all the chat and pics, the growing up of EJ and Odin's brood but wish them all  a safe journey. Would like to say thanks too for all posts on various forums.

For those who have been under the weather, hope you have recovered.

Thank you all once again for being here for me, it has meant such a lot to me. Take care.

  • Ready to go out, but must just say hello to MARGO!  Great to read your post, which I am sure cost you a lot of effort in your weakened state!  Wishing you well - thoughts, prayers and virtual hugs continue!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Lovely to hear from you margobird and I am glad you are starting to improve. I do hope they will be able to give the injections at home for you, as I am sure that will help alleviate a little bit of the stress for you. Take care, Claire.

  • Margo, how fantastic to hear from you!  Limpy and I are very pleased that the treatment is working - we really hope the improvement continues and you really feel better soon.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Brilliant to hear from you Margo. You have been really missed on the forum this season and I am so glad you are improving.

  • Margo Hello and a huge Welcome back, so good to see you here, I know it will have taken you a long time to put your post together, and it is really appreciated!! I'm so pleased for you that your treatment is working, it makes all the unpleasantness of Chemo worthwhile, you are receiving care and that is good, it is hard to let others come and do what once was automatic for ourselves, but sometimes we just have to be humble enough to let others take over until we can resume it again.  I think you will be able to catch up with our LG osprey family through the autumn winter months if you can look through the DU a little at a time, that way by the time you've caught up the osprey season will be about to begin again :-)

Warm thoughts and BIG {{HUGS}} to you!!

Here is some Welsh Heather for you Margo xx

  • It is great to hear from you again MARGO and hope that the next round of treatment goes well you have been one of the stalwarts of this site and it is good that you feel able to contribute again.

I have been having problems as my washing machine went on the blink on Sunday and I had to put my brain in think mode as to how I could get rid of the water in the machine and then get the clothes out as the door is on a timer that works when the cycle ends. Eventually managed that and took my wet clothes over to sister in laws to complete washing and spinning brought clothes home and hung them out and got them all dried still to do the ironing. Went and ordered a new machine but will have to wait for delivery so will have plenty of clothes to wash to try it out by the time it arrives.

I have also had a problem with one of my bedroom windows but have got that fixed.

Have loved all the chat and photos of the various subjects and now will have to start looking in on the adventures the ospreys on their travels south.

Hope everyone keeps well and enjoys this spell of weather we are having before the colder time sets in.

  • Afternoon George. Sorry about the washing machine. They always seem to break down at the most inconvenient moment. I meant to say I loved the pic of Diesel. Too much going on at the moment to remember to reply to everyone.
