Lindy- thank you x dibnlib - fingers and toes crossed for Dillon. Margo - what can I say ?!! Just brilliant to see you here x All the posters of very interesting pics- thank you. Much enjoyed ! Annette- I have been listening avidly to all the reports regarding the wildfire. During my frequent sleepless nights the BBC World radio service tells me much more than we see/hear on our domestic UK service. Kindest regards to you all xx

George: Hope the new machine isn't too complicated (ours plays a tune when it's done - and a lot of other things. Doesn't do windows though!). :-)

dibnlib: Eyes crossed too here for Dillon.

Heather: We get the BBC afternoons and then again at night - it's live then and I get a silly thrill out of hearing them say, "It's 4 a.m." etc...

Back later to catch up.  Was up the orange tree this morning - three huge bags of amazingly sweet Valencias and haven't even made a dent!

Lindy you made me cry, what a wonderful gift you have, and thank you for sharing it with us! Thanks for all those lovely photo's of Little Moreton Hall.

dibnlib So sorry to hear of Dillons health problems, I really hope his cough is nothing that can't be healed, my thoughts and prayers are with you for him.

George sorry about your washer, but glad you've got it all sorted out so quick.

Lots to catch up this evening!

NiteOwl – the shopping was only groceries, so not particularly enjoyable – but we did have lunch at our nearest garden centre on the way. We were early getting to the hospital, only to find that the clinic was running an hour late, so we indulged in people-watching from the tea-bar! This visit was supposed to sign me off, but I knew my left eye wasn’t right, since Saturday, and the (different) ophthalmologist confirmed it is a recurrence of the Iritis. He believes in trying to zap it fast, so I have ointment at night as well as very frequent drops. As others have said, do be very careful using the hedge-cutter – please take care!

AQ – thanks for sharing more lovely photos. Is that the end of trips now the weather gets warmer, or do you continue into spring?

Annette – you sound to be back into your normal routine of dashing hither and thither – and picking those yummy oranges again!

Linda – dull and dry here too, but quite breezy and a bit cooler this evening (won’t need to fling off the duvet tonight!) We resisted plants at the garden centre, but did buy a “bargain pack” of Tete-a-tete Daffs (why? I know we have some already!) and a new watering can. Imagine cleaning those windows in the LM Hall Gallery! A lovely poem for EJ (and all her fans).

George – good to hear from you, but sorry about the washing machine; I hope it won’t be too long before you get the new one. We still talk about the time we spent with you at Dysart; it was so interesting to hear some of the local history and little anecdotes from you; I am sure it will stay longer in my mind than anything I should have remembered from the museum! Stay well!

Good to see Patily and Bjane posting too – best wishes to both.

Dibnlib – sorry you are still having problems posting and having to sign in. Virtual fingers etc crossed (real fingers won’t do it any more!) and prayers for dear Dillon tomorrow – will be thinking of you all. Am I right to think that the “piece” derives from a piece of porridge from the porridge drawer which men took to work with them? I think the original jeely piece or cheesy piece may have been on porridge too – and not far from an oatcake or bannock (original oat bannock, not the fruity wheat bread from Selkirk!).

OG Sorry to hear your eye is bad again, glad they're straight on to it with the ointment, try not to do anything to strain it, I'll let you in on my day with the hedge cutting .... I managed to make a start with Mulberry helping with the clean up, but I decided to re-do a bit I'd missed ... Sshhh ... don't tell anyone, but I cut through the cable! In almost 23yrs of using electric cutters, this is the first time this has happened! I always used clippers in the past, and Electric as a last resort as it's quicker. The garden waste bin is now full and not due for emptying till next Thursday, so can't do any more yet anyway, hopefully my Father inlaw will be able to mend them at the W/end. (He's a retired electrician)
