Morning all!

  • Just read on the DU, from CLARE, that LIMPY has gone into hospital this morning, re his chest pains.

Best wishes to LIMPY and I hope all is well.

  • Just a few replies before baking some Gingerbread while OH is at the museum. I had been thinking the 45 House Sparrows I counted this morning were excessive, but maybe they need a few spares: latest window strike a few moments ago was Mr Sparrowhawk; he had rather a shock and “lost his bottle” – all down the dining room window!

Linda – good morning – and thanks for your link. Will watch that next! Sorry about disappearing posts.

Brenda – what a busy time you have had, but I expect you were pleased you could help your niece – and I assume it was good news that she and her OH left together! You won’t know what to do with yourself when Penny leaves - is that later this week? Thanks for news from Clare.

Clare – please give Limpy my best wishes, and I hope the hospital can help him and sort out the problem.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Best wishes to Limpy, Clare. Cheer him up by telling him that NiteOwl thought Sam Allardyce was Meat Loaf the other day.

A few pics before bed, these from around the Clyde Sea Lochs.

Firstly, a parade through the streets of Clynder, near the west bank of Gare Loch

Looking down Loch Long, towards Inverkip Power Station, the huge chimney of which was blown up a few days later.

Looking back down Gare Loch toward the Firth of Clyde

Below is easily the single most controversial establishment in Scotland - Faslane naval base, home to Britain's four Vanguard-class submarines . (No need to say any more).  The SNP want it gone. The Scottish Independence vote could hinge on it. Looking down from the hillside opposite it seems so peaceful.

  • Thanks for telling us about Limpy, Brenda.   We all wish him well and hope that the good old NHS can sort out his problem.  A bit of a worrying day for Clare.

Enjoyed the photos, mulberry.  Laughed at your remark about Meat Loaf!

  • OG:  Thanks for posting the photos of George and Diesel:  they both looked exactly as I had imagined!  and Diesel is a very handsome dog indeed, lovely. :-)

Hope your water problems are being sorted out.

  • First juvenile sighting on migration:

    21/08 11:08 HAMPSHIRE : Osprey, Sandy Point [S]

juvenile flew south out to sea at 08:13

  • Good Luck to that young osprey, whoever he/she is!  How brave they are, flying off into the unknown.

  • I wonder if it's the Manton Bay bird?

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Good afternoon, all.  Thank you all so much for the kind regards and thoughts - it's most appreciated!  I have now brought him home and he's resting on the bed - basically he started running a temperature yesterday evening, his head hurt (very badly), he was throwing up and he got a chest pain.  A series of tests showed nothing conclusively wrong with his heart but his blood sugar level was quite high so the hospital will write to his GP and ask for him to be referred to the cardiac and diabetes departments.

I was surprised to hear RW announce that 2J had began his migration, I hope he has and not just found trouble at home.

Sorry to hear about Limpy this morning Clare, Glad to know he's now back home resting up in bed, hope he makes a quick recovery. :-)

Lindy thanks for the RW news link, lovely photo's on there :-) What a shock you had yesterday, could have been disastrous, hope you're over it now.

OG  Thanks for posting your photo's of George and Diesel, lovely looking dog, I like your wheels too .. lolHow is the Sparrow Hawke?

Brenda H  Sorry to hear about your family problems, good you were able to help in some way, and they are able to sort themselves out in an amicable  way. :-)

Annette I've been having lots of bother with my Internet Explorer also for a few days now, and lost so many posts through it, my (new) laptop has been almost throttled !!!
