    OG - My football allegiance is always the same! The same, however, cannot be said of the Mulberry Osprey, who tends to have a liking for whichever team he is about to visit on his travels. Or he sometimes wears a scarf in support of a particular cause. So shinty it is. He even has his own washing machine for it.

    Don't you knock your osprey, Mulberry - he's even been known to support a swimmer from Felixstowe, which was much appreciated!

    Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

    Don't worry Clare. The goggles and snorkel will reappear when you decide to do the Felixstowe to Harwich solo swim in December.  

    Been kept awake by the combine harvester all day. if that wasn't enough, the RAF decided to send a couple of Eurofighter Typhoons to annoy me for good measure.

    No sunshine here. No repeat of last nights sunset.

    What beautiful sunset pics, mulberry - great! Found out that I still have good reflexes, as a man stepped out into the road in front of me without looking as I turned the corner at a junction. Put my brakes on and prayed that I did not hit him at the same time as wondering how alert the man driving behind me was, and would I feel a crunch at the rear! Somehow managed not to hit the man, who weaved his way across the road in front of the nearly stationary traffic on the other side - phew!

    Clare – this is the time of year when our Starling numbers begin to increase as they get ready for their annual performance at Gretna! They bred very successfully this year. We also have huge numbers of House Sparrows, some of them still feeding young, which I think are from a third brood.

    Margo – I believe you are logging in and may be reading this thread; if so, I just wanted to give you my best wishes. I think someone said you are due a review soon, so I hope that goes well.

    Mulberry – sorry the Combine Harvester and Typhoons kept you awake – I assume that means you are back at work after a night or two off. Spectacular sunset photos from last night!

    Here are the promised photos of George and Diesel, taken at Dysart, near Kirkcaldy. George was able to fill us in on the industrial history of that part of the Fife coast and we really enjoyed meeting up. I was able to walk around the harbour, where the scooter wouldn’t manage the cobbles, but I resorted to wheels for the next bit!

    Hi, LINDA.  You snuck in just before me!  Pleased to say, I didn't have any problems inserting the photos.  That sounds a really nasty experience which you had this afternoon.

    Earlier, the farmer phoned the house to tell NiteOwl she had about 30 seconds to rescue her washing from the line. The combine harvester was inbound towards the garden! One minute later it was a dust storm. I've never seen her move as quick!
