Morning all!

  • Hi, Lindy.  I think we've got some Cabbage Whites - at least I keep seeing these big white things fluttering past the windows - my ID-ing of butterflies is hopeless!

I hope everything goes all right at the dentist - not my favourite place.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • We talked about the Boat Lift on here once before - it is indeed incredible and if I'm ever up that way I shall make a point of going to see it. I'm sure that if it were in London it would be more World Famous ;-))

  • If they look pretty much white all over, with just a few freckles, then they are undoubtably Cabbage Whites, Clare. They are the most common butterfly now. Sadly all the others are not doing very well after all the strange weather of the last few years.
  • Not worried about the dentist as its only a chip off my front tooth & nothing major - but I seem o be going there much too often these days!

  • I think you're correct in saying that if the Falkirk Wheel were in London it would be spectacularly famous - I'd never heard of it before it was mentioned on the Community.

The outdoor matter concerns next-door's sewer which has blocked before joining ours to go out into the main drain, so it hasn't affected our drain, but their blockage is in our drive, so we have to work out who does what, and more specifically who pays!

OG. Have you checked the situation with the water company responsible for sewage?. Recently there were changes to the system so that where someone elses sewer joins yours the part of their's under your property and the remainder from that joint to the road is the responsibility of the relevant company. I have no idea where you live but the changes were effective in England and Wales from 1/10/2011.

  • Good morning everyone.

Thanks for the link LINDYBIRD. I found that I already had it bookmarked so you must have mentioned it some time before. Here is the Earth Science Picture of the Day site. From their drop-down menu dialogue box, I've spotted that they have a clouds section. I've not followed this site for some time.

CLARE, crocodiles in Scotland link..very funny, was not sure what to expect with that title :-)

  • As with EJ.......expect the unexpected, TBoL.  Glad you enjoyed it - I thought it was great!

  • This mornings pictures - Rannoch station, on the West Highland Line. This is one of Scotland's most isolated stations, only being accessible by road from the east. That said, Corrour Station, which is the next station to the north, is even more isolated. That station doesn't even have any roads to it!

  • Lynette - I'm willing if you need someone to carry your suitcase in Austria. LOL
