Weekly Chat (non-Osprey) Sunday, August 18, 2013

Morning all!

  •   Sabs on amber alert in cull zones. Hair DNA traps found across the cull zones:

  • A short gallery of Nessie shots:

---  and one entitled "Nessie hears the doorbell!!"

    Finally, my favourite:

  • Hi, NiteOwl.  I hope you are feeling better than you did yesterday.  Thanks for thinking of us with our domestic problems.  Our "indoor flood" was simply dealt with, dried out with dehumidifier, central heating and hairdryers - and plenty of disinfectant and air-freshener.  It turned out to be just that the "boys'" shower tray had overflowed and OH admitted it was his fault because he hadn't been cleaning out its very shallow waste pipe recently!  The outdoor matter concerns next-door's sewer which has blocked before joining ours to go out into the main drain, so it hasn't affected our drain, but their blockage is in our drive, so we have to work out who does what, and more specifically who pays!

All the above going on has been quite time-consuming, and I didn't even manage to read all last week's posts, nor much of this week so far.  So I don't think I shall actually catch up.  As for photos, I think they might have to wait a while - maybe summer photos when we need cheering up, as someone else suggested!  But we did have a good couple of days in Fife, including a visit to the Scottish Deer Centre.

I hope people are well, and I will try to make a fresh start tomorrow!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

Hi everyone, just watched this video on the Astronomy picture of the day site. It was filmed in Caithness and features Noctilucent Clouds and Aurora. Quite interesting. Cheers :-)

Thanks, TBoL, this was just beautiful!

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Lindy, love all the Nessie shots but ESPECIALLY the last one!  Awwww!

  • LINDA - seeing CLARE's comment, I just had to look at NESSIE.  I agree, that last one is very special.

  • Hi, OG - I'm pleased I commented in that subtle way!  That dog is just gorgeous.

  • Hi all, hope everyone is well.   Lovely photos of Nessie, Lindybird.

Still getting used to my partial dentures but at least they give me a full set of teeth and I am no longer "gappy Annie" at the front.   Had a fall years ago at school and knocked my two front teeth skewey and in the end had to have crowns. One broke altogether recently and there was nothing else for it but to go for dentures - at least now I have a full set of teeth with some others missing over the years - strange feeling though but hey who cares at least it looks aesthetically pleasing.

My how the osprey season has flown this year and it will soon be coming to the end.

I don't know whether I mentioned it, forgive me if I am repeating myself, but it looks as though our holiday to Austria will go ahead as there are now 25 people booked on the coach and there had to be a minimum of 18.  Have to pay out for it on Saturday but we will do with a willing heart now we know it is on.

Must watch that video TBoL  it sounds fascinating.
