Weekly Chat (Non-Osprey) Sunday 11 August 2013

Happy New Week!

Last week's Weekly Chat thread is HERE.

The code for this week's Weekly Chat thread is WC110813 (in case you ever need to find it using the search box).

(WC stands for Weekly Chat. 11 is the day, 08 is the month, and 13 is the year. I will always follow this format.)

Don't forget to watch for the Perseid Meteor Shower tonight and tomorrow night. If you have cloudy skies, you can watch the online webcasts. See my post at the end of last week's chat thread.

Sending good energy to Margo, Patricia, NiteOwl, Buzz, and anyone else who is dealing with adversity.

I haven't seen Lynette posting for a while. Lynette, I hope you have recovered well from your operation!!!

Also, sending a shout out to Auntie in Finland, who's probably working very hard at her career, and to DJoanS -- also to Caerann in Chicago (I thought of her this week).

  • Just seen our visiting hedgehog in the garden.

  • Well here I am with a little tipple beside me, trying not to think about the fact that as yet there is no packing done! Not to worry, tomorrow is another day-- Annette - you asked about vanilla seeds. If making vanilla ice cream infusing the vanilla pod in the cream, egg and sugar custard, the seeds from the vanilla pod can be scraped out and added to the mixture. At this point I will say that although I have an ice cream maker I hardly ever use it and usually buy from the supermarket ;-) I may be able to check in here while away but meantime, thanks to all for pics and posts, flowers birds etc. All enjoyed very much and especially Linda's horse made from scrap.Amazing! OH says that we won't be able to see the shooting stars, too cloudy. I hope everyone is OK, thinking about Lynette, Auntie, Patricia just for starters! BTW Alan, our' hedgehog migrated next door last week and keeps approaching their patio doors at night. Their Jack Russell goes crazy and barks loud enough to wake the dead, which is pretty awful at 2am or thereabouts.I'm sorry about the lack of paragraphs, can't do anything else on this tablet. My PC is pretty poorly, need to get it looked at. Meantime I am grateful to have this wee thing!
  • We haven't seen Patricia for a long time - I hope she's OK.  Lynette posted on the DU and the Dyfi thread this evening - it was nice to see her.

We used to have one doing a nightly circuit of the neighbourhood but we haven't seen one in years now.

  • Annette: Did you see this? Los Angeles to San Francisco in 30 minutes!

  • Evening all:  Quick look in -

Diane: Yes, I saw it and it sounds awful!  :-)

    patriciat: Where are you?

  • Good morning All. A bit dull here again, today. Diane: Oooh! Sounds exciting to travel that way, but I wouldn't want to be the first.....
  • Lindy/Annette: I'd get claustrophobic in one of those tubes. I'd feel like a bug in a jar. LOL!

Lindy: I loved your most recent pics from the flower show -- the Monday smiles! :-)))

Back later today to catch up. Long To-Do list today. :-(

  • Good morning, all.  That tube sounds like a very fast way to travel - I'd have to try it just to see what it's like!

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Clare: I wonder if you would feel the extreme speed? I was curious about it myself. I think I'd feel too closed in, though. I don't even like to fly in traditional jet aircraft. It's the only time I drink alcohol. LOL
