Weekly Chat (Non-Osprey) Sunday 11 August 2013

Happy New Week!

Last week's Weekly Chat thread is HERE.

The code for this week's Weekly Chat thread is WC110813 (in case you ever need to find it using the search box).

(WC stands for Weekly Chat. 11 is the day, 08 is the month, and 13 is the year. I will always follow this format.)

Don't forget to watch for the Perseid Meteor Shower tonight and tomorrow night. If you have cloudy skies, you can watch the online webcasts. See my post at the end of last week's chat thread.

Sending good energy to Margo, Patricia, NiteOwl, Buzz, and anyone else who is dealing with adversity.

I haven't seen Lynette posting for a while. Lynette, I hope you have recovered well from your operation!!!

Also, sending a shout out to Auntie in Finland, who's probably working very hard at her career, and to DJoanS -- also to Caerann in Chicago (I thought of her this week).

  • Dibnlib : Interesting you mentioned Findochty as that was where I had a cheap holiday in a little flat when my kids were little. I believe there are no pubs in that village.

I don't know how I would be if a bat came at me, normally I don't mind creatures except for spiders (urgh!!)  - never seen a bat close up.

Lindy: Bats are very valuable to the ecosystem, and I would never hurt one. But, dang, are they creepy little fellas!

Good luck with your diet, Lindy!!! I know how difficult it is.

How do you pronounce the SouthAussie Barossa Valley town Nuriootpa?

    Why, Nurioopta, of course!

    LOL  AQ!!!!!!

  • Thanks for the fierce looking bat picture, Diane.  I wouldn't hurt them, either. (however ugly they were LOL!!)

Alan:    I also meant to say, ages ago, what a cool signature you have now.....  great quote.
  • ALAN   There are pubs in Findochty now.

DIANE  love bats, but probably not a lot of them together, I can imagine that would spook you

More place names. This time pronounced as they are spoken but I love the sound of them. Auchtermuchty in Fife and my Grandpas favourite place name was Muckle Flugga which is a rocky island north of Unst in Shetland.

  • DIANE   The collective noun for bats is colony or more appropriately I think, in your case a cloud of bats!

  • Good day All, Lindy thanks for my extra hug :-) Glad you all enjoyed your family day, hope Buzz gets on well at the vets today :-)

OG sorry I missed you but hope you have a good time in Fife, and George also.

dibnlib thinking of you with your dental visit, hope all's well.

Annette, Diane and AQ and everyone, I'm enjoying reading your posts.

Margo I hope you're feeling somewhat better this week :-)

  • See I've just missed NiteOwl -  thinking of you again, NiteOwl, take care.

Just remembered that it's Monday and I usually put on a Monday Smile.  Today it can be a couple of photos of some strange beings we met as we left the Flower Show the other week.  Everyone got their cameras out as these two characters were walking around, even though they had no apparent legs, and were talking to all the visitors and cracking lots of gardening jokes!!  (of course, I have forgotten all of them now.... but it was really funny!)

~     hilarious!!!    and they spoke in strange accents, like 'yokels'   -  it really made my day!!

  • I have missed OG, I have not answered questions put to me - in short, I am an absolute disgrace! But here's the IMPORTANT thing, MARGO has just phoned! She came home from hospital last Friday. After losing a stone in weight she was on IV fluids for a few days. Very weak and badly bruised from lots of falls at home that she tried to conceal from her OH. The different tests that were performed didn't show anything so the consensus of opinion is that the chemo has caused this rectal bleeding and all the weakness and loss of appetite etc.Margo's OH is looking after her this week but a care package has been put in place for when he returns to work. Margo has a walking frame and bathroom aids plus a carer will come in the morning and at lunchtime. In two weeks time she will see the oncologist and discuss things regarding the chemo.Billie pined for Margo and is obviously very happy to see her back at home. Margo sends her love and thanks to you all. Now to see if I can post this without losing it!
