Weekly Chat (Non-Osprey), Sunday 28 July 2013

Happy new week and new month!

The world's oldest known calendar device has been found in Scotland. It's based on the phases of the moon, as well as the position of the sun, and is 10,000 years old.

That's 5,000 years older than the first formal calendar devices found in the Near East, which were thought to be the earliest. The device provides further evidence that Scotland's early civilisations were much more advanced than previously thought.

  • Good morning, Lindy - that's beautiful.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Good Morning:   Hope that OG & Eagle-Eye will at least treat themselves to something special to eat tonight!  Have a lovely day, anyway   :-))

Sunny & dry here, but rain supposed to fall later - I must get the last of my laundry on the line quick so that I can get it in again before we go off on our long weekend.

We were upset yesterday to realise that someone had scraped along the rear wing of our car whilst I was in the car park having a cuppa with my Friend.  Some of the white?? paint has come off with rubbing but it's left scratches along the wing, and my OH is very upset as the car did not have a mark on it when we bought it even though it's second hand.  Ho hum.  I said "Imagine if you had a really super duper expensive model of something, you would be much more upset!"   The previous car had been 'keyed' once when we parked it in the street, people are so cruel and uncaring.

My bro keeps in touch by email but we hear from him only when his finances need some looking at.  He has two now grown-up daughters who I have never seen, younger than my two children even though my bro is older than I.   My OH has a 'difficult' relative, too, and my Friend has a 'difficult' one... perhaps its obligatory!!

Must go pack stuff, and clean the bathroom, don't want to think people think  they would find me dirty if I come off the road in the car!! (its a bit like wearing a clean vest in case you are run over..... LOL!)

  • We've got our difficult relatives as well, Lindy.......happily, having upset most of them, they avoid me like the plague!!

  • Thanks, Clare.  Hope you enjoyed your week off work, and saw that you managed to get out and about in this fine weather.

OG:  Forgot to say, the clematis did not seem the be the dwarf type, they were in pots just for the display.  I do have one growing on the patio in a pot at the moment, its new this year and we are very pleased with the results.

  • I've got next week off work as well - we're going to Wales for a couple of days as Helen will be at her Pony Club camp.  Guess which nest we'll be visiting?

  •  This is the clematis I mentioned, don't know if I've posted it before now....

I love going to Glaslyn - we didn't visit last time as it was too hot for poor Buzz - very high temps.  Enjoy!!  (their chicks have both done well this year, hooray!)

    Celebrations may be muted,

but congratulations gratefully noted on our Sapphire Wedding Anniversary.

     Thank you.

Where did you dig that one up?  Dark hair?  Must be at least 20 years old!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
