Happy new week and new month!
The world's oldest known calendar device has been found in Scotland. It's based on the phases of the moon, as well as the position of the sun, and is 10,000 years old. That's 5,000 years older than the first formal calendar devices found in the Near East, which were thought to be the earliest. The device provides further evidence that Scotland's early civilisations were much more advanced than previously thought.
Good Morning, All. Cloudy here but still quite warm.
I love almond blossom, AQ! Does that mean that spring has come early?
Replies and Monday Smiles later, when I have hosed myself down and filled up the washing machine....
Meanwhile, here are some lilies which are coming out in my garden:
At least that posted OK - I never know what's going to happen to my posts these days. Had to sign in again this morning before it would let me in <SIGH>
Hello, everybody; getting a post in earlier today while the other two are getting ready to go out. J is going to give OH a lift to his optician appointment and then have time out on his own; OH will walk home and then all three of us will reconvene for lunch (soup).
Heather – I hope you eventually got a good sleep after the busy time with the family. Pleased your OH is looking good.
Annette – no longer gardening weather here; more drizzle this morning; but it does keep the vegetables coming! OH won’t go often to see Aunt – this was about a year since his last visit. It is further than Northampton, would be difficult by rail (lots of changes) and he has to go when he can borrow J’s car because he can’t take my Motability vehicle unless I go too, which I don’t!
AQ – so, it’s getting warmer for spring. Those false alarm rain forecasts are a nuisance! Pleased you got it pegged out for most of the day. I am sure your leftovers tasted good for lunch!
Well, things to do – had intended baking muffins but forgot to thaw blueberries, but there’s always something to be done!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Darn – missed you, Linda! Lovely cheery Lilies! Sorry you have to keep signing in.
Right, I'm back again but still don't have time to make replies as have some phone calls to make etc. Meanwhile, here are this week's Monday Smiles:
....... and my favourite:
(no idea about copyright on these as sent to me as something going around the Internet & around the world with no descriptions on)
These are for dear Margo - hope you are 'hanging on in there', as they say these days, Margo - we certainly havn't forgotten about you and I think of you daily.
(the first of my Flower Show pics this year)
Lindy this is me to a TEEEEEEEEEEEEE love it . x
Sudden persistent downpour about 9:30. Water was streaming down our road as we don’t have enough drains. In town, J and OH encountered deep water; J abandoned his plans while OH went to his appointment; J had to use some one way streets the wrong way, and once the police arrived, they were directing traffic to use his route! OH also had to pick out a walking route home. We are now news on BBC Scotland! Several roads closed and properties damaged.
OH had to have the drops for his eye check, so he is restricted - might not be able to go to the tip this afternoon (but it could be flooded anyway!) Anyway, all well with his eyes.
Linda – thanks for the Smiles. First one is encouraging, second one not me – I am tired when I get up and when I go to bed, third one also not me (and I don’t read sci-fi)! Lovely photo from Tatton.
Margo – thinking of you as you continue treatment this week.
OG : Sorry about all the flooding. We have been promised heavy showers but nothing so far and temp is up to 24.1c. Quite windy so that should push any showers through fairly quickly.
We have just had a real humdinger of a thunderstorm. The lightening flashed, followed immediately by an e n o r m o u s bang right overhead- quite frightening. Then the rain!! Oh, my!!
Not as bad as OG's flooding, but torrential.
