DAILY UPDATE (Loch Garten nest) Tuesday 28 May 2013

We, some of us anxiously, await the hatching of Osplet #2(#4) laid on 23 April.  Osplet #1(#3) laid on 20 April is thriving, it will be a formidable elder sibling.  Let's hope it takes after Star/Tore, who, whilst she didn't hesitate to put Storm/Bynack in his place, generally waited until she was bashed before she laid into him.  Fond memories :-*

Today should be the day.

A little clucking came from under EJ a few minutes ago when she shifted:

  • EJ gets up for a bit of housekeeping and a wing-stretch

Chicks stir and start calling for attention, but she continues to resist the stale fish and just snuggles back down on them again.

and then nibbles on the end of the fish herself

ooh, and then she dragged the fish across the nest and nearly stood on her babies!

  • Hi all, fantastic news.  Just catching up with the days events.  Thanks for all updates, vids and pics.

took this one at 22.30 and the one below it at 22.45 with night cam on.

       who are you looking at.

One proud mum keeping the chicks warm.

  • Great stuff, CHOCO, I was getting "dinner" in the kitchen and heard something going on but just had turn my priorities upside down and get on with feeding myself ;-)

  • All well fed and warm and going to bed with a smile all.

I didn't try to one-up you, LYNETTE, didn't see your post and I always (if poss) do the exact before/after :-)

Love the 2245 one, stole it ;-)

  • Hi everyone :)

    Happy Birthday Moffer! :)

Welcome to the world chick #2.  So happy for EJ & Odin

Thanks to everyone for all the posts, pics, vids etc. Ospreytastic as usual :)

Warning!  This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar.  Approach with extreme edginess.

  • EJ had flown out and straight back.

    Chicks sleeping.

  • Hi, Scylla - here she is arriving back:

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
