We, some of us anxiously, await the hatching of Osplet #2(#4) laid on 23 April. Osplet #1(#3) laid on 20 April is thriving, it will be a formidable elder sibling. Let's hope it takes after Star/Tore, who, whilst she didn't hesitate to put Storm/Bynack in his place, generally waited until she was bashed before she laid into him. Fond memories :-*
Today should be the day.
A little clucking came from under EJ a few minutes ago when she shifted:

Great news to arrive home to, second chick :)) over the moon
Thank you everyone for all the daily updates, videos and photos.
Great poem Lindybird.
EJ had a short comfort break. Both chicks very lively :)

moffer, sorry, I realized it just now: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Cats and women will do as they please. Dogs and men should relax and get used to it.
Well what joyous news - not only a second hatch, but a good feed as well :-) It's more than anyone could have hoped for given the dramatic start to the season. Lindybird your poem sums it up very well.
Thank you so much moffer for the video clip of EJ doing the business with that large fish, despite obviously having had a busy day. She managed to manoeuvre herself with the fish sufficiently close to the chicks to feed them both easily, despite the deep nest cup, something we've seen other ospreys having trouble with - particularly Nora in her first season! But then again, EJ is an old hand (or should I say claw) at this now.
Oh and lest I forget: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

18:04 Odin deliveries fish and EJ takes and feeds chicks
edited meant 18:04 not 16:04
I've been out, so its great to hear that the chicks have both been fed: thanks Everyone for the clips, pics and posts :-)))
Another feed took place at around 18:08; sadly I missed most of it as my video capture software got interrupted by a Firefox update I couldn't prevent :-/
EJ was feeding from one fish, while another seemed to be on the edge of the nestcup. Looks like Odin is stepping up a gear
Glad that Everyone enjoyed my ditty! I shall be raising a glass tonight to the Loch Garten nest, occupants and all the wonderful Staff at the Centre.
Just watched moffers film of the earlier feed: it's wonderful, go have a look if you havn't seen it yet.
