  • This is a pic of the Oak Creek GHOs that I tried to put on here last night. I will try again:

  • George, how I envy you seeing the two Sea Eagles and then to see one land in the tree. What a fantastic sight.

Alan, good capture of the peregrine. I have never seen them, whenever I look. Thanks also for the lovely GHO picture.

  • Great zooming once again at Norfolk eagles. Should be great viewing when chicks arrive:

  • Now my second instalment of catching up, then back to Lily and Hope (very active yesterday evening).

Annette – didn’t know Tesco had come your way – a lot of people here say they won’t buy from them because they are so big and controlling, but they have plenty of customers and we are pleased to have one quite newly arrived in our small town.  I will attach a picture of an Avocet, at Pensthorpe in Norfolk.  We called at the Coffee Lounge yesterday, and I actually had cheesecake (unusual for me) – but had left out part of my lunch because it was planned.  I hope you enjoyed your book last night.

AQ – interesting history about land and agriculture – thanks once again.  That was a terrible situation you mentioned earlier about the roof insulation project!

Alan – do you and Lady P always buy things when you go on a shopping mission, or is it sometimes window-shopping, or looking at stuff you don’t buy?  Bird at Derby seems to be looking very “sideways” at the camera.  Lovely chicks with the GHO.  Zoomed Norfolk Eagle pic wasn’t there before, but now I see it!

HeatherB – good that your broadband is sorted ready for the Ospreys’ return!

Diane – just spotted you with your morning tea – what are you up to this week?

GeorgeG – how wonderful for you to see the Sea Eagles at Vane Farm – I hope they stay around there for many more occasions for coffee and scones.

Been busy outside again today – trying to get jobs done without doing too much, so had three separate hours working.  We had an agreement that I would brush used flower pots last autumn if OH washed them – I did my bit then, so I had to start washing them in the garage this morning!  I then did some pruning and sorting in the greenhouse, and after coffee (at home with a piece of my shortbread) I cleaned greenhouse shelves, set seed potatoes for “chitting” and then dried some of the washed pots – so quite pleased with my achievements today.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Wonderful news Margobird. By now you are probably tiddly from all the drinks offered by us LOL. What can I say but "ENJOY".

Cirrus - PS. I remembered later that my doctor suggested amending my diet. Arthritis is aggravated by members of the nightshade family - ie potatoes, tomatoes, capsicum (sweet pepper), eggplant, tobacco. She also said that a relative of hers decided, after a few months' trial, that life wasn't worth living without potatoes !!!!!!!! Soon after this I had trip overseas. In Ireland I was often served 2 or 3 kinds of potato on the same plate (roast, chips & mashed), plus 3 kinds of capsicum (red, yellow & green). I had a giggle to myself. And I do like a nice fresh home-grown tomato.

I'm off to the National Archives today. Another Federal Govt bungle. They announced that the branches of the NAA in Adelaide, Darwin & Hobart would close, and records go interstate where we cannot access them easily of course. Cost-cutting exercise. A rally was arranged for last week on NAA's open day. We did turn up despite an announcement that very morning that the decision has been changed. However the lease runs out next March which means stuff will be packed up from the end of this year. Then we shall have to wait while they decide about "co-locating". No mention of money for this. Meanwhile I intend to extract as much as I can with a weekly visit.

  • Alan - When I logged on this morn your pic of Oak Creek GHO was missing. Now having posted my waffle, it's there. Wow. Thank you. Must go back and look again while I have the chance.

  • AQ – Can’t imagine life without tomatoes – have salad at some time almost every day, use loads of canned tomatoes when cooking, often eat grilled tomatoes (and they are good for so many other health issues) – sorry, I have to choose to live with the arthritis!  Would it not be possible for the National Archive to be accessible online??

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Evening all: Seriously extended shopping mission today; dinner 1 1-2 hours late thanks to my various stops.  The Easy Spirit outlet store just received a shipment of all kinds of shoes in my (large) size; so, of course, I was obliged to try them all on, especially as they had a special going on that was even more attractive thanks to my being a member of the Auto Club, which rated another 10% discount. (Love those discounts!)

OG: Thanks for the Avocet pix - that bill (beak?) looks familiar.  McCall Smith book is good; more reading on the schedule tonight (Bertie is having yet more troubles with his pushy Mom).  Your afternoon sounds very relaxing and productive - probably the shortbread helped.

AQ: Oooh. A rally. Did you stage a sit in and burn your bra?  Your Federal Govt. sounds a lot like ours. Can't see either of Alan's photo posts; maybe they'll be there tomorrow.

George: Your day sounded lovely. Hope you have more of them.

How can it be Friday - again! - tomorrow?
