Evening all. Wonderful rainbow over Santa Barbara this afternoon; more like April with heavy showers then sunshine. Don't forget to check last week's chat for Tiger's link to the Roy Dennis site about a French osprey that's already completed its migration, and Patriciat's recommendations for places to eat in Grantown (for when we all go to visit OG's son!). :-)
dibnlib Nevis Bakery in Fort William do great gingerbread, including one with raisins. I've got it in Nethy Bridge, so it should be available in your area.
Tiger I'm shocked and horrified that another young eagle has been killed on the island of Ireland. Even if the poison wasn't intended for the eagle, the use of illegal chemicals is still appalling. I thought farmers had become more responsible than that - though reports of the dumping of dead livestock by roadsides and in other areas would suggest, I have to say, that where money is involved, either in terms of paying for safe disposal of dead livestock or risking the possibility that a bird of prey might take a small sickly animal, some farmers lose all sense of decency.
Thinking of Margobird - right now!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Morning all ... another stunningly beautiful day here - only marred by the news of the eagle poisoning. I read about it on the Irish Golden Eagle Trust website http://www.goldeneagle.ie/ as I regularly check to see the progress of their tracked birds. I signed their petition against poisoning last year.
Thinking specially of Margobird today and hope all goes well.
What a busy blog this was yesterday! I didn't find time to post and there was loads to read and catch up on, so thanks to everyone for chat/ history/ links/ pics etc.
Take care all

AQ very many thanks indeed. And wonderfully informed in regard to Oz history!
BrendaH I very much look forward to seeing whales this coming May – I’m taking a boat trip out of Tobermory and really really hope it’s a good time of year for them.(Would you know?)
Margobird very many positive thoughts your way and sending you a hug.
Tiger, /DjoanS I haven’t had the inside stuffing to read about the horrendous news (forgive me) but I’m glad to be informed briefly of specifics. I just cannot understand such hatred or thoughtlessness towards such amazing and wonderful raptors.
Dibnlib have you tried Tesco Tarte au Citrus (or some such - can’t get the acute on the e).? You can buy a big one or two small ones. A great change from chocolate ‘gooies’.
Annette I do trust your (seemingly, endless) busy life is giving you a lift and today in particular.
Hello to everyone this fairly sunny Thursday. May your various days treat you gently and well. Later …….. as they say over The Pond
Afternoon all from TI,
Margobird : As everyone else has said we are all thinking of you and sending positive thoughts.
Tiger : Appalling news with regard to the poisoning of the Golden eagle. It is sad that despite all the efforts to reintroduce these wonderful birds to Ireland there are still mindless people who would undermine all the good work.
AQ : Thanks for the info on the insulation debacle. It seems that there is always a hidden agenda by any government that introduces such schemes and that they are never thought through properly.
Everyone else thanks for the history, chat, pics etc.
Today LadyP and I went on another (sigh!) shopping mission.
Weather is bright and sunny with a cold easterly wind. Off to take the Thunderdog for his walk.
Hi Cirrus, I have seen Minke Whales on a boat trip from Mull some years ago, so have just looked at a site advertising these trips to update myself, ( which I am sure you have done) and found that Minke whales and porpoise are sighted over 90% on whale watching trips. Minke return to the Hebrides every spring to spend the summer feeding on the large amounts of available fish. Killer Whale are only occasionly seen around Mull. ( I did not see any !) .
The one thing I do remember is that if you are prone to sea-sickness, do take some tablets before you leave. It was quite a choppy ride !!
Hi everyone.Margobird: Hope everything goes well. Sending positive thoughts.Everyone: Have a happy Thursday. I'll try to get though the pages since my previous post, and send more replies soon.Paul

Margobird, I guess you may know something by now. You are so much in my thoughts
Good afternoon to all my friends on this site. It is time to "crack open the bubbly" as after a morning of more mammograms, ulta scans and thorough examinations I have been given the good news that all is OK. It would be wonderful now to have a drink with all of you to say thanks so much for all the positive thoughts and support that has come my way over the past week. You really are a great bunch of people. I woke up this morning feeling anything but positive so you can imagine how relieved I feel now. We have such a lot planned this year in the way of shows, a 6 day break to Venice and 2 weeks away in Cornwall, a place very close to my heart, and I had got to thinking that we would not be able to do any of these things. it is a beautful sunny day although still quite chilly so all is right in my world now. There were quite a few people who had been called back for s second assessment so I am hoping they will get some good news as well.
I watched Lily and Hope a lot yesterday and Hope was so funny. At one point she had her bum up in the air and two little feet were waving about. There is a video which they took when Lily left the den for a couple of mintues and my word Hope is just gorgeous. I usually have the link open all the time so I can listen to all the little noises and the snoring which always makes me smile.
Terribly sad new about the Golden Eagle in Ireland. How tragic that yet again someone has left poison on what is prey for these magnifcent birds. Just cannot get my head around people like this. they obviously have no love of nature whatsoever.
My garden birds are keeping me well amused with their antics at the moment have seen several sparrows flying around with bits of twigs in their beaks so Spring must be on its way. Had a visit from the sparrowhawk again yesterday but she did not catch her meal in my garden. I had been watching quite a lot of birds who all suddenly flew off with little warning whistles and then the reason for their departure became clear. She is a magnificent sight though.
Thanks for the clips and links to all. Trying to catch up with things now.
Once again thanks and I wish you all the very best in life, you are all certainly worth it.
Have a good afternoon.
Margobird
