Weekly Chat, Sunday, February 28, 2010

Evening all. Wonderful rainbow over Santa Barbara this afternoon; more like April with heavy showers then sunshine.  Don't forget to check last week's chat for Tiger's link to the Roy Dennis site about a French osprey that's already completed its migration, and Patriciat's recommendations for places to eat in Grantown (for when we all go to visit OG's son!).   :-)

  • This is a great barn owl cam Alan, so close up and what wonderful faces they have.  Bonus to have the sound as well.

  • Diane - it's out of the oven now!!  Hurry up!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  •  patriciat  so sorry you are in such a lot pain and not very good that you have to wait 2 weeks for a doctors appointment.  You are not moaning constant pain really does get people down.

Hope you have some sun today, take care and look after yourself.

  • Good morning Heron 77 and can hardly believe it but we have another sunny day.  Hard frost agaon overnight but what a treat to see that big yellow thing and there is even some warmth coming from it.

Love the picture of the starling.  I just love them, they are complete hooligans but they make me laugh with their antics in the garden.

    Have a good day.

  • Thanks DjoanS for capturing this shot.  Have been looking in most days and have seen one on the ledge.  Good news that the peregrine cam in Brighton is saved and will be up and running.

Have a good day with some sun I hope.

  • Good morning  dibnlib and sorry about OH's aunt and the fact that you didn't know she was an asthma sufferer, must have come as a bit of a shock for you.  Such a shame when families drift apart, same thing with one of my sisters.  She had breast cancer from which she has hopefully recovered but nobody let me know.  I would have felt dreadful if anything had happened to herl.  I do ring her now and then but we are not very close anymore.

Have a good day and hope you have some of this sun that seems to have come out of hibernation.

  • MARGOBIRD Good luck with the tests and I can add a story to Annettes about blood tests. When I lived in Germany (way back in history) I had to have blood tests done 4 days in succession I was called back and I was getting worried. Turned out in the end that  RAF wildenrath had received a bad batch of  tubes from the hospital at Wegberg so the only problem in the end was an armful of pin pricks!!!!

  • Morning all from TI,

Thanks everyone for their chat ,pics and general friendliness. What a great group this is.

It is a beautiful sunny day although a little deceptive as in the shade it is cold after a severe frost last night. The house next door is getting cavity insulation today and the constant drilling is annoying. I am not convinced that attacking the brick wall of your house with a power drill and pumping some sort of chemical foam into the gap just to save £5 a week on your energy bill is a good idea. However lots of others have been convinced by the hype so I will let them get on with it.

I took the thunderdog out for an extra walk this morning just to get away from the noise but when I came back they were still at it. Maybe a shopping mission is the answer.

    Weather : Temp 8.6c , Partly cloudy,dry.

  • Just found this wonderful raptor gallery. The guy Glen is well known for his falcon photography in San Francisco. See http://raptor-gallery.com/

  • I have just read an explanation of photographs vanishing, from a blogger ( Seymouraves)  on a page on other forum. RSPB person, Kevin Middleton, says that there are two servers and if you post photographs to one server, it is not passing the information on to the other server. So it depends which server you are connected to when you are on line and explains why some of us can see photo's and others can't.. If you sign out and then sign in again, there is every chance you will change the server you are connected to, but then maybe not !!! They are still working on it.

Sun is shining again. Must now catch up with all your chat.
