Evening all. Wonderful rainbow over Santa Barbara this afternoon; more like April with heavy showers then sunshine. Don't forget to check last week's chat for Tiger's link to the Roy Dennis site about a French osprey that's already completed its migration, and Patriciat's recommendations for places to eat in Grantown (for when we all go to visit OG's son!). :-)
Brighton peregrines nest is now live:

NEW BLOG
Alan - thanks for the info about the Brighton peregrines and the new blog. I have noticed the Derby Cathedral peregrines have been around the nest box a lot more lately during the day - I took this screenshot just now.

Hi everyone.Brace yourselves. We have sunshine, in these parts. The big yellow orb is out in force today, after giving jack frost a swit kick up the backside. Frost made a good start this morning but soon the orb was fighting back, and dispatched frost with relative ease.Made the mistake of not posting for a couple of days. So I'll have to add a condensed reply. Many thanks for the magnificent links and pictures. I was going to add a long reply and offer the option of reading very fast but thought better of it. ;-)Annette: Thanks for getting us off and running (or should that be flying?) on another weekly chat. Diane: Very sad at the news that the Pete's Pond cam could be in trouble. I really hope something can be done so we can continue to enjoy the wonderful views.Caerann: The very best of luck on the job hunt front. I've no doubt you'll find a great job very soon. OG: Brilliant seeing buzzards. Gorgeous raptors. They're one of those species of birds that tend to mske an appearance when the camera is in case and the case is in bag. The last time I saw one was when on a bus just a couple of miles from my home. The camera was in my bed room at the time.AQ: Thanks for more SA history. Fascinating to read, as always.dibnlib: That picture is absolutely stunning. Thanks for posting.Margobird: So glad you enjoyed your meal on Sunday evening.DjoanS: Fantastic peregrine picture. Thanks for posting.Everyone: A very happy new week, and a very happy new month to you all. Happy Monday. :-)Here's a starling playing a game of gate ornaments, from earlier today.
Paul.
Warning! This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar. Approach with extreme edginess.
Hello everyone. Hope you have all enjoyed the sunshine today. Such a very welcome change.
AQ, Thanks for the extremely interesting SA history.
Annette, Very amusing story of the butterfly film. Hope to hear you have seen a large number of whales.
DjoanS, Thanks for lovely picture of Derby Cathedral perregrine.
Paul, love your picture of your starling. Thank you.
Jeanette, I can understand your countdown to your stint at LG. Really is something to look forward to.
Thanks to everyone for chat, pictures, and links.
Oh dibnlib, that's a fabulous picture of Loch an Eilean. It is so peaceful. I'll look at it every time I feel fraught, as at present. I've got what may be sciatica - very painful when I try to run or to ease trainers off, walking is OK but sitting horrible. Tried to get an appointment to see any docctor in our practice - 2 weeks today! I can't believe it can be that busy. Sorry to moan, I know it's not serious.

posting of loch an eilean again as at some stage it has gone missing!!!!
Dibnlib - now you've taken the trouble to post it again, the original has appeared!!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Hey AQ, thanks for posting the Burra pic again (I knew it was yours and not Diane’s really ;)) but I was too late. Maybe another time. Thanks for more history.
I’ve seen pics of lochs (the same one twice!), a peregrine and a starling today, nothing disappeared so perhaps I should go back to last week and check out the missing ones.
Positive thoughts all this week to Margobird (and Hilary/Maureen, where is she?)
Good job hunting thoughts to Caerann.
Patriciat, sciatica is horrible, you’re allowed to moan - sitting on the edge of the bed in the morning is very painful if you have it at the back of your thigh. I expect the doctors hope it will have gone by the time of your appointment.
Thanks for the wave OG. BTW, we usually only manage to get to D&G once a year so don’t feel snubbed if you don’t get a call re eating out. Hopefully I won’t have lost your details when I need them. (Hope I haven’t said that already, I forget. And I’m only a couple of years older than Diane :)) )
