Evening all. Wonderful rainbow over Santa Barbara this afternoon; more like April with heavy showers then sunshine. Don't forget to check last week's chat for Tiger's link to the Roy Dennis site about a French osprey that's already completed its migration, and Patriciat's recommendations for places to eat in Grantown (for when we all go to visit OG's son!). :-)
Good afternoon Alan hope you have some sun now. We did not get the horrendous weather that had been forecast for Southern England yesterday. It did rain overnight but not that heavy and there was no wind at all. It stopped raining quite early on and was just a dull cloudy day. Today it is sunny and quite warm. We did have quite a heavy frost but once the sun cam up it soon went.
Thanks for the links to the owls and the Spanish eagles. Can't see to get the eagle cam up at the moment but will try again later.
I have only just caught up with all the posting from previous weekly chat and the new one started yesterday. Really busy over the weekend.
Caerann I wish you well in your search for employment. I know it is very difficult to find work at the moment. Also thanks for your kind wishes.
Diane Thanks for the links to the woodpeckers and what colourful little birds they are. Thanks also for your kind thoughts. I must admit I am positive one and negative the next so will be pleased when Thursday comes and hopefully will find out more about what they have seen.
auntie Thanks for the picture of the Blackwater eagle chicks. To think Mum was lying in a nest of snow not so long ago and now we have 2 eaglets. Wonderful.
Jeanette Welcome back and I am so envious of your to be able to volunteer at LG.
Aquilareen Thanks for your kind thoughts, I have said before it really does help
Tiger Thanks for alerting me to the Dutch webcams being up and running but a shame there is not a peregrine nest cam this year. I spent many an hour watching the peregrines last year and the video of the storm over their nest was just a delight to see.
To all thanks for all the news and itnteresting stories have learned so much since joining this group and it does take my mind of things that I would rather not think about.

Afternoon all. What a beautiful day it has been here - non-stop sunshine, no wind and 7.5C ..... positively tropical! If I hadn't been so busy in the house I would have been out in the garden doing a tidy-up.
Jeanette - I too am envious of your volunteer time at LG
Caerann - my good wishes for your job hunting too
Thanks to everyone else for chat/ history/ links/ pics etc ... all most interesting.
Take care all
Joan - avid bird and nature watcher in Northumberland!

Good Morning/ Day to Everyone!
Tiger: I'm really bummed there is no Peregrine cam at de Mortel and also no Kingfisher cam either! I'm going to ask around and see if I can get more info on whether those cams may still be forthcoming or not.
Stay tuned............
Caerann it is shame no pregrines or kingfisher hopefully you will be able to find something out.
above is a photo of loch an eilean one our favourite walks ang where our much loved fingals ashes are scattered. Think we chose a good place
Wonderful picture dibnlib.
Forgot to say ibn my last post that I did have a very enjoyable Chinese meal Sunday evening.
dibnlib it is certainly a lovely spot where Fingal's ashes are.
Morning all: Glad the yellow orb is making an appearance in the UK today. You all deserve it!
Caerann/AQ/George: Oh yes: Comptometers - where you used every finger; Gestetners; telex - I remember when IBM electric typewriters were introduced, then IBM Selectrics. Really, really loved the IBM "correcting" machines - learned to type backwards really fast! :-) Didn't use those cards (with the holes punched in), but remember seeing them around. What about compass sets?
Tiger/Alan: Thanks for links and pix.
Margobird: Had a routine blood test once and couldn't get the results; no-one seemed to want to talk to me about it. Spent a frantic week convinced I had some ghastly condition, then discovered it had been lost - then found sitting on a lab counter where it had gone "bad" and couldn't be used. Aaack! Was furious.
Off to gym then whale counting - looks to be a chilly day out on the point so will take along a thermos of hot chocolate. Take care all.
Uh-oh; we're back to disappearing photos - in this case dibnlibs. Sigh. But it'll probably show up later.
