Chat Extravaganza Sunday Feb 21st

Here I am, awaiting the snow machine to crank up again Sunday afternoon. Expecting 8 to 12 inches new snow on top of 3 or 4 we still have from last storm. Oh bother!  Can you tell I'm not very enthused?????

So to pick up from the last of our thread:

Annette:  Do tell us how the Pale Male movie was, please.

Some fascinating new news on the Peregrine Falcon front from Derby Cathedral (it's snowing there as I watch at 11:15 p.m. Chicago time) where they've finally let us in on the secret hinted at in the blog from last month.

I believe I'm off for the night now. Happy Sunday to all!

  • I  am feeling a lot better at long last but it really did knock it out of me and OH for over 2 weeks.  The clear blue sky did not last and we have already had a couple of showers but at least it is warmer.  Hope your blood tests go OK.

  • Good afternoon Alan so pleased Hamish has got the all clear.  Must have been a bit of a worrying time for you.   I can see from your post that it is warmer for you but it seems if we have the milder weather we have to put up with rain.  We had a gorgeous start to the day but more cloudy now and a couple of heavy showers have passed through.

  • Tiger this made a wonderful start to my afternoon.  They really are magnificent birds and as I watched it made me think how much some humans could learn in taking care of their families.

  • goege g sorry things are not good for you at the moment.

I think the birds will be so glad when Spring evenutally arrives, what a hard time they have had this year.

  • Emma Peel sorry your daughter is unwell but it seems there are an awful lot of nasty germs around at the moment.  Hope she improves soon and it does not turn out to be a prolonged illness.

  • Saw the sun during lunch!!!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Tiger: Thanks for the clip of the peregrines. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Here is a clip taken from 22nd of the Dunedin ospreys and a couple of rogue sparrows. This is provided by "ploughboy" from finland. Music goes well  and all in all it is a nice composition.

  • Thanks Alan for the link and the music really make this so beautiful to watch.  Cheeky little sparrows are funny as well pinching nesting material, do not seem put off by the size of the ospreys at all.

  • original goldfinch the sun here lasted for a couple of hours but now lots of showers.

  • Morning all:

AQ: That's weird - just saw OG's response to your Burra copper mine post and realized I hadn't seen it - how did that happen?  Interesting. Do people take tours of these old mining towns? New Mexico and many of our western states have old gold- and silver-mining ghost towns, which make for wonderful driving trips.  As OG noted, the Burra photo didn't come through, but I've noticed that sometimes such photos appear once you've hit the "reply" button.  When the Spanish settled California, they built the missions a one-day's-ride apart (by horse). Only makes sense.

OG:  Deep-fried Mars Bars!  In lard I'm sure!

Heron:  Hmm: Your photo of your friends was there; now it's not. Maybe it's something at my end that's playing up.

Emma: Oh now, so daughter has missed concert she practiced for?  :-(   Bummer.

George: Hope bro-in-law's problem can be sorted out. Doesn't sound like you've had a pleasant few days there.  Wonder where that uncapped oil well was.

Hi and bye for now to everyone else and thanks for exciting news about sun showing up! Take care. Off to start date (late as usual).
