Chat Extravaganza Sunday Feb 21st

Here I am, awaiting the snow machine to crank up again Sunday afternoon. Expecting 8 to 12 inches new snow on top of 3 or 4 we still have from last storm. Oh bother!  Can you tell I'm not very enthused?????

So to pick up from the last of our thread:

Annette:  Do tell us how the Pale Male movie was, please.

Some fascinating new news on the Peregrine Falcon front from Derby Cathedral (it's snowing there as I watch at 11:15 p.m. Chicago time) where they've finally let us in on the secret hinted at in the blog from last month.

I believe I'm off for the night now. Happy Sunday to all!

  • Good morning Cirrus nice to hear from you.  I have at long last fully recovered but now have something else to worry about.  After a routine mammogran the hospital have called me to say that they have found something different to the last one I had.   I am quite worried I must admit, have another appointment now for next Thursday to have another one done and an ultra sound screening.  I am trying to be positive and just hope it is nothing too serious.

We have  had a lot of rain this week but today the sun has come out for a change and although it is cooler because of a fairly strong wind at least it looks as though it will be dry today.  I am so glad for all my garden birds they really have had to put up with awful weather this winter.  Costing me a fortune in bird food but if it is helping them to cope I am only too pleased to offer all the assistance i can.

Have a good day and hope the sun will stay with you.

  • Morning Tiger and I watched this site an awful lot year, very good and with recordings of things you might have missed.  I am really hoping they come on-line again this year.

  • Godo morning Annette and thanks for these 2 photos what a treat to see sun.  We do have a bit of sun here this morning and keeping dry so far so hoping it will stay this way.  It has been an awfully depressing week weatherwise.

  • Good morning Diane sorry you are so angry.  Life does this to us at times.  You will probably see my earlier post and I am not feeling too happy today but I will be positive and hope everything will be OK.  I know you have had really tought times of late but we all care about you and think of youl.  Have a better day.

  • Morning Heron 77 hope all your snow has gone and it has stopped raining.  We had a terrible downpour most of the afternoon and evening.  Today that thing called the sun has been out and it is cooler because it has got quite windy.

Birds are so funny to watch the sparrows here just have to have their baths whatever the weather and even when they have been sat in pouring rain for hours.  I am expecting all the birds to change into ducks with webbed feet if we get much more rain.  Not looking forward to Sunday when we are being promised a very wild and wet day yet again.  Fingers crossed it misses us.

    Have a good day.

  • Good morning Alan and this is a great capture of the falcon looking into the camera.

  • Good afternoon all have just been catching up with whats been going on and it seems that it doesn't matter where you are in the UK the weather is dreadful. Diane sorry to here that you are so angry but I think it dosen't matter where in the world you are all politicians look after themselves first and if it happens to help the populace OK but that is a bye product. OG thank you for the lovely words that helps everyone to overcome their negative thoughts. Margobird I hope you get good news when you go for your tests but it is the not knowing that makes things very difficult to overcome as I know as my late wife also had breast cancer and it was a very worrying time. On a happier note the time for our osprey return is getting a lot closer and with their return the better weather will return with them.

Sending calm and peaceful thoughts to all

  • Oh OG Wish  I could imagine myself in a Spring forest!  Must look up pictures of the bluebell wood where we walk.  The leaves have started to come through the ground so Spring can't be too far off.! Just come back from walking the 2 young dogs in very heavy sleety rain.  Not pleasant.  My new waterproof trousers leaked at one knee and my expensive walking shoes (a very prestigious make) leaked too.  But I was warm inside more layers than an onion.  Poor dogs were like drowned rats but still enjoyed themselves.  Won't be taking the 'old girls' in deference to Nell's age and Fly's arthritis.

  • Margobird So sorry you've had worrying news about your mammagram.  Sending you positive thoughts.

  • Good to see you in print George.  26:10 according to the countdown clock.

Margobird  this is not good at all!!  Yes, a very worrying time indeed. I'm sending my calm and peaceful thougths with George's to you especially.

A work evening for me and it looks like I'll get a dry walk to work. Hooray.A local Crow is culling twigs off a neighbours tree for its nest . The Thrush seems to have done a bunk do I'm trusting it's because it is courting and nest building.   The Hilton Head Osprey nest cam seems to be down but the  Two Harbors Eagle nest is a delight to me - just wish the picture was bigger.
