Here I am, awaiting the snow machine to crank up again Sunday afternoon. Expecting 8 to 12 inches new snow on top of 3 or 4 we still have from last storm. Oh bother! Can you tell I'm not very enthused?????
So to pick up from the last of our thread:
Annette: Do tell us how the Pale Male movie was, please.
Some fascinating new news on the Peregrine Falcon front from Derby Cathedral (it's snowing there as I watch at 11:15 p.m. Chicago time) where they've finally let us in on the secret hinted at in the blog from last month.

I believe I'm off for the night now. Happy Sunday to all!
Hi margobird: See you've been on here whilst I've been rattling on with the above. Hope you too, feel better soon: what a sorry crowd we are! Cheers me up to think that the clock is still ticking away for our wonderful Ospreys return, very soon.
Good morning original goldfinch I am slowly feeling better but it is taking a long time. It took OH a good 2 weeks before he felt really well again. Have just caught up with all the news, links and pictures again,\mu usual Monday morning thing as I am not on the PC much at the weekends as I think OH deserves some attention. He is back to work now so I don't feel guilty spending time on here. Looking foward to an update hopefully some time today. I hope our ospreys stay away a bit longer as the weather really needs to improve for them. Have a good day.
Margobird
Hello Lindybird I think we need rubbing out and drawing again as my Mum used to say. Have just said to original goldfinch that I don't want our ospreys to return too early as they will need better weather than most of us ar getting at the moment. Have a good day and look after yourself.
Thanks, margobird: My mum used to say that about being 'rubbed out', & I'd forgotten it, so thanks! Take care yourself. Bye for now.
Hello to you all, do trust most of you are keeping really well.
Glad to read you are recovering Margobird, even if it is slow at least it's in the right direction!
Is it my imagination, or is the Hilton Head Island Osprey nest (currently with an Osprey on it :) ) growing grass?
Afternoon everyone from TI,
AQ : Lovely photo of the tree dahlias. Not sure if I have ever seen them in this country.
Cirrus : I watched the new Star Trek film around Chrismas time and I also thought it was really good with the guy that plays Sylar in Heroes making a great young Spok. Special effects and storyline also excellent.
What looks like grass on the Hilton Head nest is actually Spanish moss brought in by the resident couple. They still have some repair work to do there.
Dibnlib : Hauntingly beautiful photo. Loved it.
Lindybird : I hope you have a great holiday when you go and we will expect a few photos when you get back.
Margobird : Glad to hear you are feeling better. This morning I awoke to snow falling for the second day running. It is getting a bit monotonous now. Fortunately it is all gone now but still cold.
Everyone else I havent mentioned great chat etc.
This morning I went on a recycling mission to Oundle with bottles, batteries and some dead electrical appliances. Home again now and about to take Thunderdog for a walk.
Weather Overcast & gloomy dry , Temp 3.3c , Sunrise 07:02 , Sunset 17:26.
Just noticed this on the Gibraltar migration site. They are on their way:
19 Feb: Large passage of Black Kites with 899 birds counted throughout the day, including 5 Short-toed Eagles and the first Egyptian Vulture and Osprey of the season. Also 258 White Storks and 2 Black Storks with the first 2 Alpine Swifts with some House Martins also crossing and heading north.
Thanks Alan
Thanks Alan - have you been watching Lily. Cub just had a really hissy fit but obviously found what she wanted and now just contented little noises. Hope you and Thunderdog enjoyed your walk.
Hi Margobird, Not been watching Lily much but will take a look now.
Latest from Dunedin ospreys nesting notes:
2/22/2010 -9am all three chicks still hanging in there. Sibling rivarly taking place between the largest and the smallest. The nest is very active. A couple of small birds are stealing nesting materials. Didn't get a close enough look for an identification. Could be anything from a house sparrow to a mockingbird. They were both grabbing at fine/loose nesting materials. 9:15am all three little ones being fed by both parents. BW
