3 Marsh Harriers at the same time seen from Sky Tower,

I should take that sighting with a pinch of salt because Hazel was with Jason up the tower and they were gossiping so much we don't think they saw anything...

LOL Alan  -  nothing like the Green Woodpecker you saw on the Causeway Pool    ha ha   !!          Can't wait to do it all again tomorrow but after a good nights sleep.    Thanks for such a fun day.

@ Tony,   yes, I think you are right Tony as the photos don't show the ringers;   I'm always a bit sensitive about taking or putting up photos of ringing sessions but the KF was such an interesting bird with that "clockwork" action automatic defence mechanism.    These sessions are so full of information and a very good way of learning more about birds and seeing them in such detail.

Anyway, its been a long day so when I got back to my digs I got my head down for two hours then had a shower and now just having a drink.
So it was nice to see the gang again, and some nice pictures shown, I have a few but these will have to wait till later, Just one for now.

  • Glad to see you are all having a great time and good to read your comments and look at your pics. I think you do need a break Hazy from house packing etc so make the most of this week even tho' you will have your work cut out with the other visitors, hopefully they are harmless:-) Very interesting to see the Kingfisher being ringed and it's behaviour, you are very privileged to witness such a moment I always think. Love the baby robin and the marsh harriers, and look forward to more.

    Lot to learn

  • It's been a great week so far Gaynor, I think we are in for a dull day today.
The community was playing up yesterday so I didn't post an update, I've done an album for Leighton Moss on Flickr and added a few record shots of an Osprey www.flickr.com/.../72157709186270841
I'll add them to this post later if we are back to normal.

  • Nice to see the site back up again and what cracking shots from the lads, I'm just having my coffee and toast whilst watching the Boris saga on Sky news and we'll shortly head out and find you on the reserve - just have to listen out for the Yorkshire, London and Lancashire twangs in between the robin twitterings lol

  • Thanks, Everyone. Great pics! I trust you are having another great day today!
Alan, Thanks for the extra pics on your flickr link. The blog from Leighton Moss (14th June, 'Summer has arrived?') says the Osprey hunting there is from the nest at Foulshaw Moss. I don't know if the female from there is also now fishing or not.

    Kind regards, Ann

  • Wonderful captures of the Osprey D, lucky you!
