Hey !! my ears are burning LOL Great start to the thread Alan and lovely piccies. We're now at Silverdale having arrived at 10pm last night at the cottage opposite the railway station and greeted Alan off the first train this morning ;) 5.58am was the earliest he could make it so we had to wait patiently for his arrival ha ha . After one week of 12 - 15 hour days trying to empty cupboards and arrange some of the necessary for our house departure in just over a month's time, I have to say this week's break up to LM is more than a welcome rest for us ! Now I just have to attune my ears to Yorkshire and Lancashire banter and keep the "boys" in order LOL Could have done with some of you ladies with me for moral support ! First thing on the agenda is one of those breakfasts that Alan has shown :) I'll be leaving it to the lads to show you all the wildlife photos as I decided to leave the gear at home apart from the binoculars. Beautiful morning here and apart from a rain shower or two Mon/Tues it does look pretty good on the whole for our week with a high of 25 degrees expected later next week. Oh to be free from packing boxes - Yay !!

Great day on the reserve but spare a thought for me being outnumbered by 5 lads lol Although no camera gear I have an old iPhone 5 so here's some record shots...…..
The crazy gang ………..
Mike and I were lucky enough to watch a KF being ringed; As a rule, I don't usually put up any photos of ringing sessions so will let you have a quick gander before removing them later.
you can see what a good view we had of this fabulous bird which was so calm and not at all fazed by the process.
It was a thrill to see this beautiful bird close up and also watch the skill and care taken by the ringers, also amazing to watch the KF's instinctive behaviour, almost like a clockwork toy, head turning, first one way, then the other as it was in hand. Wrynecks do the same thing I believe. (record shot on iPhone)
Other birds seen was an Osprey twice, Cetti's warbler briefly cutting across by the feeding log area, 3 Marsh Harriers at the same time seen from Sky Tower, a young Roe deer on the woodland pathway towards Lower Hide, baby robin being fed 5 waxworms by its parent, Marsh Tits, Willow Warblers, Sedge Warbler. Lots of damsels and a few chaser dragonflies. All in all a very enjoyable day and my thanks to the lads for adding such fun and laughter !!! See you tomorrow gang.

I should take that sighting with a pinch of salt because Hazel was with Jason up the tower and they were gossiping so much we don't think they saw anything...
Grey Heron just after 6am.
Oystercatcher from about the same time.
Juvenile Robin from a bit later.
Wren in the shadows
Damselfies
Jim was on site from 5am and throughout the day got some cracking photos of the Osprey.

What a shower … I shouldn't wonder the birds can hear you lot from Morecambe hide
Great to get such a view of the KF and some nice additions from day 2.

.... or the likely lads. Good to see everyone having fun. I'm sure you coped Hazel and kept them out of mischief.
Great to see the Kingfisher - I don't see any need for you to remove the photo unless the ringers don't like their work being shown.

I don't look at my best at 6 am either. LOL
Nice capture of the OYC in flight.
