An elusive Leighton Moss Bittern

I've finally found my way to the forum (I think), but I'm not liking the new layout! Anyways, here are some pretty distant & heavily cropped photos of a Bittern I saw yesterday, from the Causeway hide

  • So glad you saw the Bittern Anna and got some lovely photos of it,   I had heard one was seen yesterday at Causeway hide which then flew across, depending on what time you were there.    Today we saw one in clear view at the Lower Hide area.

I bet at some stage we passed one another on the pathway yesterday - we'll have to start wearing Forum badges  !!!

Thanks Hazy, I saw this one mid morning & I'm glad you got to see one today as well. I'm sure we probably did pass at some point, it's inevitable isn't it?  For the first time ever I left early (before dark), because I was so very, very cold.

Will be another cold day today and tomorrow but dry in the main I think until Tuesday onwards so making the most of our daily visits to the reserve and seeing what we can before the atlantic weather arrives and the wind.    We've been really luck as you will have found these last two days.    At the end of the day which is pretty short at this time of year we feel exhausted carrying camera gear around and dressed up in layers of warm clothing but it's such a lovely reserve and the staff are always welcoming making it a home from home.     Well, we'll see what today brings and will be heading down the Causeway first and then to Lower Hide and Shrike area !
