Sadly not Clare, its just a little to far for a day trip at 500 mile round trip :(

You'll have to take a proper holiday in Suffolk then.  Highly recommended (by me!).

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

You won't miss the feeding log,  it has a large upright curve to it on the left hand side;  look to the right and behind the log in the shallow brook and a few metres right of that as it seems to be the Rails territory.  There is also a Moorhen in same area so look for a smaller bird than that and a red bill !!

Depending on what time I get there Alan, I would call in on the Eric Morecambe hide first thing in the morning then the main reserve and like Hazel, has said a lot of people like to go to Grisedale hide, Lower Hide is another hide to go first thing if you want to see the Otters or Marsh Harriers

apparently the Otters haven't been showing as much as its their breeding season so they must be lying low.   Not to say you won't see one as there are several around the reserve.

Missed the time you will be there Alan, I would then go with what Hazel, has said just take your time walking the path down to Grisedale hide and you should see a lot of the wildlife and keep a look out for the Bank Voles that nip out from under the logs :)
