Some recent sightings so far this week....
Yesterday -
9 whooper swans on lagoon 5
2 shelduck on lagoon 6
Immature male marsh harrier on Phase 1
And today -
Great spotted woodpecker in the woodland
A snipe on Phase 1
Immature male marsh harrier hunting over Phase 1, then heading off the the south
3 little grebes on Phase 2
120 lapwing flying over Phase 1
2 buzzard over the footpath and silt lagoons
and as I walked from the office up to Phase 1 this morning, it really felt like spring was in the air! It was warm, calm (lovely after the gales of the last few days!) and the place was filled with birdsong! Species heard singing this morning are -
dunnock and great tit in the woodland
chaffinch on the footpath behind the processing plant
song thrush on the footpath by the silt lagoons
great tit again in the Phase 1 scrub
skylark on Phase 2
cetti's warbler in Phase 1
