The weather has been glorious in the last couple of days, after a rather cold and damp volunteer Sunday. So, we have been making the most of it and here are the latest sightings….

Redhead smew still on silt lagoon 7. It was also on Phase 1 yesterday afternoon, so do look out for it from the viewing screen. One also flew onto Phase 2 from Phase 3 this afternoon – another bird, or the same one moving around?

A curlew on Phase 1 yesterday afternoon and three over Phase 2 today.

The 240 wigeon on Phase 3, seen by Mike Warren are still there this afternoon – this is perhaps the highest number we have ever had at Langford.

Three pairs of shelduck.

7 pintail on Phase 3 today – 4 males and 3 females.

Two pairs of oystercatcher.

Two male goldeneye displaying to a group of three females on Phase 2 this afternoon.

No butterflies in the last couple of days, but bumblebees are active, as are solitary bees – there was an individual sunning itself on Phase 3 (species unidentified!) this afternoon and flowering plants include coltsfoot, common field speedwell and blackthorn blossom.
