....on recent sightings from the last few days.

  • ruff on the old silt lagoon 7 (the one you can see from the southern edge of the visitor trails). This was with a group of c.30 lapwing.
  • greenshank heard calling from the Beach Hut.
  • common tern - still 3 pairs with young on site. Look out for the chick with the pair on the left hand gravel island as seen from the Beach Hut.
  • hobby over the visitor trails and the old silt lagoon 7 area.
  • nuthatch in the woodland - not easy to see and not very vocal, patience needed!
  • the first narrow-bordered five-spot burnets on the wing.
  • my first small skipper at Langford in 2014.
  • common darter flying
  • Ocypus olens - the devil's coach-horse. A large an unmistakeable rove beetle.

Keep on the lookout for tree sparrows!
