Good morning. Although the weather isn't great this morning, we are hoping that we get some good weather next weekend, as we have our Start of Season Family Fun Day next Sunday, 10am-4pm. The theme of the event will be grazing animals on the reserve and weather permitting, there will be the opportunity to get up close and personal with a variety of livestock. This should hopefully include:
They will be kept in pens near the visitor centre so you should have the chance to pet some of them should you wish to. As well as the animals themselves, there will be a grazing themed trail that will cover around three quarters of a mile around the Brandon Fen family trail. There will also be the opportunity to view the cattle grazing near the car park, which includes three Highland cattle and a Belted Galloway.
As well as all of this, there will be a chance to hunt for the creepy crawlies that call the reserve home near the visitor centre. If the water levels drop sufficiently in time, there will also be the opportunity to do some pond dipping.
I will leave you with a couple of pictures of grazing animals on the reserve.... and some pictures of Frederick the willow dragon, which now looks a lot more like a dragon once again!
