I am told there are plans to release partridges on land adjacent to Geltsdale, presumably for shooting. It may have already happened! In addition to the distrubance of more shooting in the area what might be the other environmental consequences. Can anyone shed light on this and what is the position of the RSPB?
Red legged partridge have been released on land adjacent to Geltsdale and birds have started to appear on the reserve over the last few months. The effects are unclear at the moment but ongoing monitoring should pick any impacts on native species.
